Any compelling reason to go for citizenship?

I would like to know what a person with ILR who chose not to apply for citizenship(even though eligible) misses in this country compared to a citizen. I know British citizens have more rights for travelling around the world without a visa. Is there anything else?

They might change rules in the future regarding people with ILR. As anything is possible with Immigration. E.g They might reduce criminality threshold for people with ILR. For example if you commit serious crime you might be deported.

Better to be on safe side.

Good point.

Does that mean that there is no differences in rights other than the travelling rights as per the current rules?

Right to vote ... but that depends if you're commonwealth or not too. Right to move to Europe.

You COULD loose your ILR if you stayed out of the UK for more than 2years.
You wouldn't loose anything if you were a British citizen (except 900 odd pounds of course) :)

Imagine you go to undeveloped country and by accident you get into jail for more than 2 years... :lol:

...it can even happen in developed country...

Another major advantage is right to reside and work in any EU country. [edit - I see that was mentioned briefly above]

And if I understand correctly, ILR must be reissued when the containig passport expires, with an associated cost? or has that changed with the BRP cards?
