3 OCI s and one still shows under process 2 granted

Post by dream77boy » Tue Aug 14, 2012 9:12 am

Hi everyone

Basically I applied for 3 OCIs in person at HCI London on the 10th of July 2012, acknowledgement date was 13th JUly

Two of them - for wife and child were granted on the 1st of August 2012 and recieved at London on the 7th of august but my application status still shows under process...??

I tried calling the HCI no answer, have emailed them, no answer..

Has anyone been in this situation and how did you resolve it?
Or does anyone have any suggestions?

I always help people in the forum (read my replies in different threads)...but cannot stop replying like that for people who come here with "can you please do the research for me. I am too busy to do a Google/boards search" attitude.

Read somewhere that if it keeps on showing under process it could mean that the photo could not be scanned. You better go to the consulate and find out.

Date of application : 05 Jul 2012 (In person at HCI London)
Date of acknowledgement : 13 Jul 2012
Photo/Signature Scanned : 18 Jul 2012
Registration status Granted on: 02 Aug 2012
Documents printed: 03 Aug 2012
Dispatched from Delhi: 07 Aug 2012
Documents received at London HCI : 13 Aug 2012
OCI card Collection : 17 Aug 2012

Documents required

1. Filled application form with photograph 51mm* 51mm pasted on the form
2. Photocopy of British passport photo page
3. Photocopy of surrender certificate
4. Photocopy of naturalization certificate

Carry all the originals just in case they would want to verify (they didn't ask me for any originals nor marriage certificate - I was submitting a family application for myself and my husband). No need of two copies of documents anymore one set is enough

HCI London accepts cash but no card.

Token for OCI are given from 12.30 - 14.30.
Applications are recieved from 13.00 - 16.30.

I was at HCI around 11.00 there were probably 20-30 people ahead of me. I got my token and got it at 12.35 probably and was out by 14.30. I did notice that the que got longer closer to 12.30.

On the Day of Collection My husband submitted both our passports at 8.30 at the counter and was given a token and asked to collect the passports at 4.30 same day. You dont have to stand in the que to submit your passports directly go to the counter.

Good... But I wonder why you sent the postal application to CGI Birmingham in the first place. CGI Birmingham i think takes about 3 months for OCI and you would have been better off posting to HCI london. I think it takes about 6 weeks there?

Thank you to everyone who posts on this forum. This forum has been invaluable in helping me get my daughters oci card. Here is our time line and application details.

The application was made for my infant daughter. We did everything by post with HCI London. For the application we sent completed OCI forms and self attested photocopies of her British passport, parents british passports, parents oci cards, grandparents Indian passports, full birth certificate, short birth certificate and parents naturalisation certificates. Everything was sent in duplicate. We included a short letter outlining all the documents we included with the application. For her signature we used a black ink pad to get a thumb impression of her left thumb. Not sure why, but they specify different hands for boys and girls. We also included two photos (US passport standard with a light coloured background not white) with each form. We got the photos done at snappy snaps. Finally we included a postal order to pay for the OCI card.

Our timeline was:
Application sent by post to HCI London: 2/07/2012
Application received by HCI London: 3/07/2012
Application acknowledged: 12/07/2012
Photo/signature at mission: 17/07/2012
Granted: 1/08/2012
Printed: 2/08/2012
Dispatched from Delhi: 3/08/2012
Received at London: 7/08/2012

Self address special delivery envelope along with original British passport and print out of online tracker status posted to HCI London on 9/08/2012. Passport received back from HCI London on 30/08/2012.

It has been 3 months for you, have you tried contacting IHC by phone or in person?

As per High Commission of India Website (OCI-FAQs), they mention no enquiries before 6 weeks.

http://hcilondon.in/oci.php

What is the processing time of application?

Around 5-6 weeks . Applicants are required to check the status on MHA website at the following link: http://mha.nic.in/uniquepage.asp? Id_Pk=553. No separate intimation will be sent to the applicant about the status of their application. Once the status shows "Documents received at London" with date, applicants should take action to collect the documents as per collection procedure.

How long will it take for my OCI card to be ready?

We expect the OCI cards to be ready for collection at High Commission of India, London in approximately 5-6 weeks. No enquiry would be entertained before 6 weeks from date of submission of application.

Took 7 days for mine to be scanned and show up on the website. It seems it dosent happen the next day as it used to before. Could have been something to do with school holidays and backlog. Keeping my fingers crossed and hoping the entire process is completed and the OCI is delivered within timelines.

Had read somewhere, dont remember exactly where.I think it was on the website FAQ section that if the status keeps on showing UnderProcess it could mean that either the photograph or signature could not be scanned. I think it would be better if you visted personally and found out.

OCI enquiry

Post by jignesh4800 » Tue Sep 11, 2012 4:27 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick question regarding PART B of the OCI application form:

For Question 16, 'Does the country of applicants permit dual citizenship in some form or the other?

The UK permits dual citizenship so I should circle 'YES' right?

Also, when self attesting the photocopies, are signatures required on the front or the back of the document?

Thank you!
