No, there is no consistency -- that is what is so maddening, and nerve-wracking. When my MP asked about the wide disparity for processing times, she was told it depended on the caseworker's caseload. That makes no sense: why would some caseworkers be given three times as many applications to process as someone else? Yet the waiting times posted here vary between 9 weeks and 26!

I think it really has to do with how efficient and diligent different caseworkers are -- and I'm afraid the ones who are slow and indifferent and lazy probably don't get penalized in any way, this being a government bureaucracy. An immigration lawyer I spoke to, who used to work for the UKBA himself, confirmed that, and said the place was a bureaucratic nightmare. He can't get any straight answers out of them either.
Leekybob wrote:The worrying thing is there's still plenty of people on that list that are still 'waiting' from much earlier on in the year, like February, March etc... unless of course they just didn't return here to give an update on their status! (I'm alright Jack!)

Again, looking at the list from those that have updated their status as approved, there is just no consistency in how long it takes!

Why don't you call them? Again this thread is for ILR processing time and despite you harping on about the same question no one has answered you properly...maybe it would best to post in another thread....

I have just received a response from the UKBA in response to my letter enquiring about processing times for SET (M) applications received in the first week of June.

The letter, which is dated the 25th of September, states that 509 SET(M) applications were received in the week of June 4th, and 44 of those have been decided. It then goes on to say that June applicants can expect to receive a decision within 53 calendar days. Those two statements blatantly contradict each other: 53 calendar days from the 4th of June brings us to the 27th of July. So clearly, if only 44 applications have been decided by the 25th of September, the decision times are much, much longer. How can the UKBA not recognize the ridiculousness of making those two statements in the same letter?

I am afraid that all those of us who applied in June are in for a very long wait. But as though that weren't bad enough, why do they tell us such obvious untruths about their processing times?

Finally !! Almost there

Post by snair » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:47 pm

Guys, I applied under Set(o) JR on 13th march.. & after 6 months of no news on 14th September they asked me for more paperwork (a few bank statements in original that I had an Internet printout off) . Sent it off last week on Friday 21st September and it got approved of 24th.

Today I received the passports & paperwork back (Royal Mail) and awaiting the BRP today as I wasn't at home when they (DX) tried to deliver yesterday.

I am told that the average waiting time is an avg of 22-27 weeks, it's hard and stressful whilst your waiting but more often than not it works out.

Cheers

Congrats to all of you who received the pp and biometrics. Now you all can sigh a breathe of relief. For all of us waiting, it is killing us. Sometimes it makes me wonder if there is something wrong with the application. 15 weeks now.

This is remarkable -- several people on this forum have mentioned that SET(O) applications seem to take longer than SET(M) ones, yet they have already processed almost 50% of the SET(O) applications from the week of the 11th of June, whereas, according to the letter I recieved from the UKBA today (see my previous post), they have handed down decisions on only about 8-9% of the SET(M) applications they received during the week of June 4th!!

My husband received a letter from a senior case worker today, stating that he had agreed to expediate my husbands application. I'm not quite sure if this was because my mp wrote to ukba in August, or whether it was because I wrote a lengthy email on Monday stating my concerns over the lengthy wait...(29 weeks).

The letter stated, I have agreed to expediate your application at your request. Your application will be sent to a case team, where a caseworker will process your application. I cannot give you a timescale as to how long it will take o process, however you can hope to hear from us in the very near future.

So something worked, I wonder it was my email?

Let's hope we get good news soon

No BRP invitation letter afte 16 weeks in application

Post by speed14 » Fri Sep 28, 2012 8:46 am

Hi all, hope someone can help me here, It has been nearly 16 weeks since I applied for SET (M) and have not received BRP invitation letter yet, I have called UKBA few times but received general answer that they cannot see anything on their database regarding my application. Also this week I have contacted them via email, complaint procedure and through my MP, I guess this takes some time to get feedback. I fear that I am already near 4 months and still not completed BRP. Looking at timeline it would take another 2-3 months after BRP, means I have long wait (more than 7 months).

Anyone had similar problem? any suggestion what else I should do?

1. Current visa: Spouse visa
2. Date of expiry of current leave: 10-09-2012
3. Application form used for ILR: SET (M)

5. Date application posted: 09-06-2012
6. Date application received at UKBA: 11-06-2012
7. Date payment debited: 15-06-2012

Hi speed14 - firstly if they said they have no record of your application on their database I would personally begin to be seriously worried! Did you receive a letter saying they had recieved the application a week or something after you sent it? Secondly, if you read the application information you should have seen that (quoting from the guidance notes) "Please do not apply more than 28 days before completing that period. If you apply earlier than that, your application may be refused. If that happens, we will not refund the fee and you will have to pay again when reapplying" ...you posted on the 9th June but yoru current leave doesn't expire until 12th September... so... why did you apply early?
'Perhaps' what has happened - and this is just a guess - is because you applied too early, instead of refusing it, they have just put it in some sort of queue so they don't start to look at it until your current visa expiry date... so perhaps your 'obligatory' length of waiting time starts from then... just a stab in the dark really!

Thanks Leekybob, yes i have received acknowledgment letter soon after posting the applicaiton, but no communication after that. Reason for sending it in Jun is because i had been issued 27 months visa initially so my 2 years of residence as spouse visa was completed in Jun 2012 ( I confirmed the timings with UKBA before applying for ILR).

Hi Speed... what a nightmare... I still don't know how long my wife's is going to take, every day I expect to go home to find it's had an attempted delivery but not yet unfortunately!
I'm surprised though that you applied before ours (we sent June 26th) and we got the Biometric Letter 18th August and luckily were heading into manchester that day anyway so just got it done there and then at the post office (think it cost £20 or £30 too but takes jsut a couple of mins).
I would try calling them again perhaps....

Hi bash100

I'm not sure if it was my email, but it's worth trying, I emailed them on SettlementOpspolicy@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk and , I didn't ask for it to be expediated.

I sent the email on Sunday 22nd September we received a letter yesterday. I honestly think it was the mps intervention that has helped our case.
