Is it likely that you'll need to travel before your EEA2 application is processed? You would certainly need to request your passport back. Additionally you'd probably need the Certificate of Application letter to demonstrate that you were in the process of applying and had to request your passport for urgent travel. With those two documents you'll be ok, though obviously you don't want to be leaving the UK before your EEA2 is processed unless it's really unavoidable.

If you don´t have The Certificate of Application you can´t proof that you have an application in process. I know that´s surreal, but It´s true.

You don´t need visa to enter, ok. But I think you could have problems to return because you don´t have any evidence and you have stayed more than 6 months here. My advise: If is necessary leave UK, you might apply for a EEA Family permit in your country. That way is secure that you can enter again to UK. Think about it before leaving UK seriously.

All the best!!!

Hi guys, I called today to ask what happens if I want to travel. The guy said my coa will come untill the end of this month and that it should be enough as a proof at the border when I come back. He suggested to call the border and check with them about the douments they accept. As it seems, everybody who applied in July will get a CoA till the end of October!

Wow! That's fast. A lot of people hardly even got their COA in that period of time. Sounds like going through a thorough solicitor may have paid off for you. Congratulations!

Quite interesting.... I got my passports back today from the UKBA since we need them to get some documents and sign up with the NHS etc. They also send me a letter telling me, that as the EEA family member of an EEA National I need to apply for an EEA Family Permit If I leave the country and want to come back... which is okay ( But I dont know why...? since we already have an EEA2 application on file ) They are telling me no to send them our passport back until a case worker request them!!!!

Any thoughts people... and By the WAY NO COA ... NO COA.... one month already

Hello Ruben, I am in the same situation, I have received that letter with the passports. All of these is totally insane!... Check my time line, I think one month more is not enough.
Good luck!

It sounds as though you may have been sent a form letter that would go to someone who requested their passports back without yet having EEA2. That's the only way I can make sense of it. What format did your EEA2 come in, if it wasn't in your passport? Mine came as a sticker in the passport, but presumably yours didn't if you are saying that you got your EEA2 last month but you are only getting your passport back now. Or am I missing something here? Regarding over a month for COA, while it isn't satisfactory, I'm afraid it is normal. In fact over two months is common atm. Evidence from other threads is that there seems to be a push from the UKBA to get more up-to-date with COAs by the end of this month after they got very behind when the Olympics/Paralympics were on.

HI well, maybe I did not explained my self clear, basically I have not received my Resident Card ( EEA2 ) I sent it over a month ago and I just asked them last week to send my passports. SO I am waiting for my COA and Resident Card basically

Apologies ruben7! I misread your last entry. OK, so you can ignore my questions. What I said about waiting time for COA stands. My suspicion is that they could not send you the COA yet because at the time you requested your passport they hadn't yet done the initial document check that they are always doing now before sending the COA. This would also explain the form letter, since if you left the UK without either EEA2 or COA you would indeed need a Family Permit to get back. But fingers crossed for you and I'm sure the COA will come soon. :)

Thanks! It looks like HO started replying to people who sent their applications in June. Have seen similar timeline in previous posts.
