Acknowledgement Number for Postal Application for OCI

Hi,

Can anyone please throw some light on the following?

1. How is the Acknowledgement Number given to the applicants who apply by Post for OCI at HCI London? (Do they send email or post or we have only the online status tracker?)

2. What is the average timeline to get an Acknowledgement Number for such postal applications?

depends where u posted
london from 2 weeks to unlimited .their is no system or logic .
keep checking online with your passport no and web reference
they dont send any confirmation

I'm in the same boat, I sent my postal application on 5th Nov and still awaiting the acknowledgement. Will just have to keep checking online, hopefully it will be acknowledged this week.

I checked this morning and my application has finally been acknowledged. So here's my timeline so far:

OCI for 1 adult

Application Date : 3 Nov 2012 (postal application)
Date of acknowledgement : 22 Nov 2012
Photo/Signature Scanned : 27 Nov 2012
Registration granted : not yet
Documents printed : not yet
Dispatched from Delhi : not yet
Documents Recd London : not yet

I have sent my OCI application by post to HCI-London on 21st Nov by Royal Mail Special Delivery, received by HCI-London on 22nd Nov morning.

However, I am still awaiting for acknoweldgement even after 13 working days / 2.5 weeks.

I have checked the status at https://passport.gov.in/oci/OnlineOCIenquiry.jsp. The status enquiry report still displays : ''Application with this number not yet Acknowledged or Wrong Passport Number.''

Anyone in similar situation?

As you can see from my post above it took 19 days for my application to be acknowledged. So patience is the key with these things!!

Also my photo was scanned on 27th Nov but no update since then.

Your photo scanned on 27th Nov and no update since then means some problem with your Photo.

This means that the photograph uploaded could not be printed in Delhi. To rectify this, take a copy of the status report and paste a fresh photograph (51x51mm) on the left hand below the status report copy & sign (thumb impression in case of infants) on the right hand side opposite to the photo and submit it at HCI London or send by post. This will be scanned and uploaded again.

This was happened to one of my friend.

The status has changed to GRANTED today
