GreatMechEngr thanks for the timelines.

pahini,

[1] Do I need to sign the form?
yes

[2] Do I need to take left hand thumb impression for my infant daughter who is just five months old?
Right for female and left for male

[3] Documents likely to be included - photo copy of my OCI, my residence proof, marriage certificate, full birth certificate, fees, pre paid envelope, photo copy of UK passport, two copies of of above documents, two photoes.

Actually one photo is sufficient when applying in UK.

[4] I have filled the form in her name as first applicant - is it right or do i need to put my name as parent to represent her OCI application?>

Her name should be fine.

2 weeks deadline passed

Post by tpoddar » Tue Dec 11, 2012 12:44 pm

Hi,
I had submitted my OCI application by post on 28th November. Technically I should have got acknowledgement by now.

Does anyone know how long am I supp to wait.
I called on the number for OCI, but it rings for like 15 mins and then someone picks up and immediately disconnects.

That is irritating!!!!

The website is continuously stuck on the "Application with this number not yet Acknowledged or Wrong Passport Number."

Does anyone know what to do ?

OCI acknowledgement

Post by GreatMechEngr » Tue Dec 11, 2012 5:49 pm

Dear tpoddar,

I also have the same problem.

I have sent all my documents for OCI application to HCI - London on 21st November 2012. The documents are received by HCI on 22nd November 2012 (by someone called DARREN WILLIAMS as shown on proof of posting of Royal Mail).

However, the status enquiry report still shows that application is not yet acknowledged.

I have also called 020 7632 3072 & 020 7836 8484 & e-mailed as well, but no response..same experience as yourself.

I will post as & when I have an update.

Regards,

HP

Hi tpoddar and GreatMechEngr,
If it is any consolation to you, I too have submitted my postal OCI application on 17th Nov, received at Indian Embassy on 19th Nov but still I have not received any acknowledgement :(
Let's keep each other posted via this forum as any attempt to get an answer from Indian embassy is proving futile.
Let's hope for the best.... :)

Got this from OCI New Delhi

OCI processing time:

The online application will be registered after receiving your signed form, fees and supported documents. Till the OCI application form is received along with the documents and fees, and registered by Mission, it will be shown as:“Not Acknowledged by Mission or wrong passport number” on the online status. After acknowledgement a new File Number will be allotted, which may be noted on the “Online Status Enquiry”. Please note status enquiry becomes active only after the application is acknowledged online by Indian Mission/outsourced agency.

Registration by mission may take from 10 to 20 days. Thereafter, a period of minimum three weeks required for getting clearances from India. After registration and obtaining the clearance, the mission has to approve the application based on the documents. The photos and signatures are scanned and uploaded in the system. After which the documents are printed in India and the documents and OCI Cards are dispatched to the Mission where they sign the documents, affixing U visa stickers to your passport and formalities for dispatch/delivery to the applicants. The whole process of OCI card issuance may take from two to four months depending upon the rush of applications in the country of your residence.

In case of inordinate delay beyond this, it could be due to some problems in the application form, documents or photographs etc. The exact time period for issuing the OCI card and collection methods, can be checked from the Embassy website.

OCI collection

Post by GreatMechEngr » Sun Dec 16, 2012 9:16 pm

Hi

One of my friend would like to collect his OCI card / visa in person from HCI-London. Although HCI-London website states that a token can be obtained at token counter at the High Commission on a working day between 0830 to 1200 hrs only, is there any limit on number of tokens on any working day? Or, if someone turn up at 11:50 am would also able to get a token for collection.

Any advise will be highly appreciated?

Thanks.

I received my OCI yesterday so its the end of my journey finally :D . But now it all begins again when my wife applies for her naturalization later this year. Anyway here is my timeline for OCI process. Anyone who has applied for OCI - in person at HCI London, can you please confirm what time do they start distributing tokens for submitting OCI Applications.

The time on the website is 12.30 pm but just want to confirm as when I went some time back to collect my Indian passport, there were few upset people complaining that the time stated on the website was incorrect and that their day got wasted as they missed the time window.

Thanks,

Signature box not printed in OCI A form

Post by mahetus1 » Thu Jan 17, 2013 4:09 pm

Hi,

I opened OCI form in Google Chrome browser.

On printing, there is no signature box on the form and they clearly mention that signature/thumb impression must be in the centre of the form.

What could I do now?

Many thanks for your guidance in advance.

Hi,
You need to use Internet Explorer. The OCI thing does not work on CHROME
The boxes are out of share and the template changes.
