Hi Guys,

I will be applying in 2 weeks for my ILR through PEO croydon.

WP stamped in January 2008.(already in UK)
Tier 1 G granted in September 2008.
Tier 1 G extended in July 2011.

Following are the documents which I intend to submit. so please correct me if I am missing anything.

1) Set(0) form (12/2012)
2) Payslips for 1st Oct 2011 - 31 Oct 2012.Not original but copy of original and stamped by employer.
3) Bank statements for last 15 months.
4) Current and old Passports(plus copy of front pages and visa pages) plus current biometric card.
5) Degree certificate
6) LIUK pass letter
7) During each of the last 5 years I haven't been out of UK for more then 30 days. I will state the absences.
During my WP time, i was on paid annual leave for abt a month I didn't leave UK during that time.
8) Photographs.
9) Current Employer letter(not sure if its needed).
10) 5 years tax history statement. Its the letter fromm hmrc stating earnings and tax for the last 5 years on an yearly basis.
11) Regarding the criminality threshold. I recently did a basic check through disclosure scotland and nothing came up. So will
leave the section as it is. During the last 24 months I haven't been convicted of any offences.I remember I used to get
some council tax letters some 5 years ago. It may have been from courts. I am not sure and nothing has come up from
disclosure scotland checks. Is it safe to not mention these as in worst case scenario in 5 years these would have spent anyway.
I was fined once when I didn't had a valid train ticket. I paid the ticket plus fine . This is well before 5 years.
12) wp approval letter plus tier 1 general and extension letters


Note do we really need to take a photocopy of all these documents like Set(0) form, bank statements, payslips.
These are quite confidential documents and dont want get it copied in shops.

i believe the time duration you mention is 13 months while it should be 12.
Did you mean 1st Nov 2011 to 31st Oct 2012?

You will also need copies of pages with entry/exit stamps.

I was not asked for either of these, I had my appointment yesterday, here is my experience:

On photocopies:

Set (O) form - NO (not required, you can if you want for your own records)
Bank statement - Yes (address page and salary credit page)
Payslips - YES
These are quite confidential documents and dont want get it copied in shops.
All libraries have photocopying facilities, and they are quite reasonable. Check out your local library.
Challenges make life worth it!

LostInCountry: you are right. It should be 1 Nov to 31 Oct. Thanks for correcting me otherwise I may have lost a month's salary.:-(
InUKOnHsmp: I will try to do the photo copies.

One question today I have ordered for bank statements. I ordered last week but the bank says there is no such request for statements. So a bit worried if I don't get the statements on time due to the xmas period. It will take around 7-10 working days, What is the alternative to bank statements. I have employer letter as well as hmrc letter which shows earnings on yearly basis. Are these different and acceptable sources then the payslips?
A colleague mentioned that there are few natwest banks in central london which will provide a stamp on the statements. Would these be acceptable?
I can change my PEO appointment but it's not easy to get one. Also is it worth the risk in Croydon PEO as payment will be taken upfront?

Hi, I am applying for ILR on Monday! (HSMP + Tier 1) , I get online salary slips. I have got it certified by the payroll deparment ( Certified as true copy of original- signed and stamped). I also have a letter from the employer stating my annual salary. Do I still need to take a letter from the employer stating that the Payslips are authentic. Seniors who have got the ILR please advice.

Sonakshi:I think you should be alrite. I will be applying with same docs (stamped and signed payslips and bank statements). I applied with the same in my last Tier 1 G extension and went OK. wasnt asked for any additional docs.

Now that I am filling the form I have a few other questions.

6.1 When did you (the main applicant) first enter the UK? This
refers to the date of your first entry into the UK at the beginning
of the period of stay on which this application is based.

As I was already in UK when i was granted WP - what date should I mention here.
Is it the date of my very first entry to the UK as a student?

11L: For the period before you were granted leave as a Tier 1 (General) migrant, documents showing that you met the relevant requirements of the immigration rules.

What docs should I show here. Before Tier 1 G I was on WP. I can't find my WP approval letter. Would it be a problem If I dont submit the letter. I have a tax history letter which sort of confirms I have been economically active in last 5 years.

Which document you have to support in section 6 (6.3), page 13 (reson for absence)

1) Letter(s) from employer(s) detailing reasons for work-related absences including periods of paid annual leave from the UK?
2) Letter from applicant detailing reasons for absence due to compelling or compassionate reasons
3) Original official documents: (medical/birth/death certificate(s))
4) Letter from travel companies to evidence disruption to travel
5) Other

You need to carry original + copies of the bank statements and payslips but you do NOT have to take a copy of Set (O) form.

One more thing to add Current Employer letter is must (keep a copy of the same)

Patt: All my absences are under 30 days in the last 5 years for every year and are paid i.e. part of annual leave. I don't have any docs explaining the leaves. As I am on Tier 1 General do I still need to submit any employer letters explaining the leaves? . Can anyone pls advise?

No. You do not require employer letters to confirm your absences.

Any ideas on the above 2 points? Note before Tier 1 general I was on WP visa and before that on a student visa.

Hi guys. any help would be appreciated. My Ilr peo date is fast approaching.
I have another question regarding the payslips. Currently I have signed and stamped payslips- they are not original. Would it suffice? In my Tier 1 G extension I submitted stamped payslips and wasn't asked for any additional docs.

Also what should I write for the question:
'How long have you lived in the UK'

As I was on a student visa before- then converted to wp and tier 1 general.
Is it the period from WP stamp or when I first entered UK as a student?

What applies here is the date when your WP was stamped, as this is when your 5 year residency for ILR began.

If WP is unavailable, you would really be fine with your passport which would have your stamped WP vignette. Take along your P60's (or tax history from HMRC) for the 5 years in case they are requested. You may want to take a employer letter which confirms your employment as a WP holder during that particular time period if possible, but not a must IMHO.

I believe that the purpose of this question is to determine whether you have satisfied the ILR residency requirement. Therefore I'd take this to be from the date you were here as a WP Holder, as thats when your ILR clock began.

Reg my WP employer it would be hard to get any sort of letter. Left them long time ago. I did submitted the payslips from that employer for my first Tier 1 G visa. So wondering whether HomeOffice would have any record of that or not ask about it again? I do have the 5 years hmrc tax letter. I will try to get the 5 years bank statements to be on the safe side.

The UKBA may have evidence from your previous T1G application, but it you have evidence with you I'd guess it would be quicker and easier all round. Therefore if you cannot get a letter, take whatever you have with you which will help prove that you met your WP requirements. E.g. Your WP employment contract, P60's for the 5 years, possibly the payslips for that particular time period, the actual WP itself. personally don't think it will be a problem, I have seen others who have applied successfully with no letter, it would be a different matter if you were applying for ILR as a WP Holder.

I have managed to find the payslips and employment contract. So I will submit the payslips, employment contract,hmrc employment history letter, and a copy of WP stamp in passport . I will try to get the bank statements as well. I hope this will be enough.

Noticed the name in my LIUK pass letter is missing my middle name. Instead of X Y Z its X Z. It still has other things like date of birth and the fact my BRP was seen as evidence. Knowing croydon PEO would they create an issue out of this?

In section 10 question 7 Page 41:

Have you had any fingerprints taken as part of a previous UK immigration application in in the UK or abroad?

I gave a Biometric for my last Tier 1 General visa in a PEO last year. I don't remember whether any finger prints were taken. Generally is it part of the biometric process?

Yes. Finger prints, signature and your photograph are taken as part of the biometric detail enrollment process.

With the grace of Allah my ILR was approved yesterday @ PEO Croydon.
Thanks to all the forum members. Especially advise regarding section 11L as I din't had any wp employer letter.

I must say the actual process with the case worker took about 40-50 minutes but found him a bit rude and aggressive.

Documents submitted:
12/2012 Set(O) form. No dependents.
BRP card
Passports + Copy of visas and front / back pages.
Last 15 months bank statements plus + copy. I didn't submitted current employer letter.
Payslips + copy.
LIUK pass letter + copy.
2 Photographs.


1) Arrived at 09:20. appt at 09:50.
2) There weren't anyone in the entrance ,so the security checks, the initial check of documents ,the payment (via credit card) was done in the first 15 minutes.
I was given a token number. Don't lose this.
3) After about 20 mins a lubly Indian lady called me. She briefly went through my application.
4) Waited about an hour or so for the biometrics.
5) after the biometrics waited another hour.
6) Called to submit all my docs and told to wait for 2 hours. Initially I thought I would go out but decided against it as it was raining heavily.
7) After 15 minutes I was again called. This time by the case worker.
8) He started by complaining that I haven't marked my payslips and bank statements properly. His tone was very rude.
9) I had to cross mark both by specifying the month number in both the payslips and bank statements. I have previously applied for Tier 1 G twice once via same PEO and didn't mark
the slips this way.
10) As I was on WP initially before Tier 1 - the cw asked to submit wp employer letter or p60 for the time of wp. I had the 5 year hmrc tax letter + copy. He was ok with it and kept the copy.
11) I was then given the ILR approval letter. BRP to arrive in 7-10 working days.

The process was swift. The cw seemed senior and looked in a hurry. I have no complaints :-)
