SET(M) certainly been treated quicker than SET(O), used to be about by 1 month, not more like 2 months+...

I will contact my adviser, soon, I guess.
I am sure next (or next next) anniversary we both will be celebrating for real!

It's 5 months and 1 week for me.
Counting down for me to start really fretting (after 6 months.)

To be honest, I'm frustrated but can not do anything about it. Spoke to my adviser, she suggested to wait. So, I have no other option than celebrate every month anniversary. :)

Hi Hit1989,
Your timeline is almost identical to my wife's - she has heard nothing yet, though! When you say BRP I assume you mean your ILR Residence Permit? How did that arrive? Was that through the mail or was that by courier? Did you have to sign for it? Also, I would be getting worried if a parcel was dispatched on Monday (presumably by courier service?) and it has not arrived by today, unless you live in a very remote part of the UK! Most courier services would normally deliver within 1 (or I would have thought at most, 2) days from dispatch, so I would have thought delivery by yesterday? What is your tracking showing as delivery date?

Hi Roxy,

I'm missing from the July timelines...the whole process is SO frustrating and discouraging! There's certainly no consistency in approval of applications.
I've now written to my local MP and will send a letter to the case department (not that it helps, I'm sure!) as it's been over 6 months.

In two days I have had a reply from MP's secretary reassuring me that MP has sent request to Chief Executive of UKBA and once he hears back I will be informed. My understanding is that UKBA should reply to MP within 2 weeks time.

What I hope for is that UKBA representative will get box on the ears and will come up with a more informative reply to my MP, rather than "it's incomlete + please wait"
Alex , Please let us know what their response to the MP is . I applied SET(O) 11/07/2012 and am still waiting. UKBA today told me that it is still incomplete and I will have to continue to wait. She was also kind enough to let me know that by the looks of things, it will not be long before they “complete” the process. Not sure whether the last remark was to leave me with a positive thought or just a standard response for people who wait beyond 6 months.

They generally give applicants the continue to wait response.

As for how long it takes, guys on telephone line, don't have this information, so any comment of their is just an encouragement.

Hi atk3501,
When you said the documents were sent to your previous address, were they forwarded to your current address? The reason why I am asking is because I am moving home and I am wondering whether I should ask them to update my address or simply just setup the mail forwarding service?

Do you guys have any suggestions on the two options?

Thanks.

Its better to set up the forwarding with Royal Mail otherwise they will end up at your previous address. If you set up the redirecting of mail with Royal Mail all your letters and parcels will be sent to your new address.

Hi Tower

I'm under 10 yrs but it appears the timelines are similar. I think she was honest to say she thinks your application won't take much longer. I think because they address these issues from callers every day they sort of pick up the general trends. You were lucky to speak to some nice, some of these HO people I think they better not touch cases, they can be rude and will leave you not feeling quite as good. Good luck

I look like I am on track for set (M) waiting period I dont advise calling them and harassing them about the status of your application unless its been past the 6 months mark, it is just a waste of time and will frustrate you and them more... they get to people when they get to people, its not about customer service we are at their mercy as we are asking to be part of their country we have to just relax and let the process go the way its goes.

I am married to a British national and have been living in this country for about 4 years now and it has been a whirlwind of frustration and money spent I have for to long made the whole visa steps and drama effect my life and I am hopefully almost done with all this drama. I find it helpful to keep busy and realize that alot of people are waiting and we are powerless to change how this government works. I just hope and pray that they stop letting fraudulent applicants through, they need to take their time on each case because they are way understaffed and they have made huge mistakes in the past letting sham people into this country when real legitimate people are being treated like this. If I am going to be part of a country I want to make sure this country doesn't get overcrowded with people who do not have the right to be here, this country can only hold so many people! It is a waiting game and we are all just going to have to put our time in and bite this bullet and get on as best as we can as we wait... I am going to have to do this all again in August when I can apply to be a British National, which I am praying will not take as long as now! but I am finally seeing the light at the end of this very expensive draining and drown out process.

PS. I wonder if the country you are from speeds up the process anymore then usual? It would be interesting to know what everyones birth nationality is so we can compare waiting times

Well, I'm missed spending Christmas with my family and friends in the states...and my brother's getting married today. So I am missing that too.

I am gutted and feeling really upset.

I submit my application at the beginning of September. I went through a solicitor. I passed the citizenship test in early July, so I had plenty of time. I told the solicitor my situation, and they didn't mention about waiting times. I assumed wrongly, I guess, that it would be quick. When the solicitor finally mentioned it, it was too late to get same-day in-person meeting to sort the application out. (The available slots were all one week after the expiration of the visa.) The solicitor said there was nothing I could do. I do wish they had told me earlier, as I said I wanted to be home for Xmas this year (I've had no holiday since May) and it is brother's wedding.

I've been in the UK over ten years now. I am applying based on the HSMP and its renewal. Before that, I had other work visas and student visas.

I am feeling so low right now.

Here's my timeline:

HSMP expiry on Oct 8, 2012. It's just me applying. I have no dependants.

Paperwork sent to solicitors at beginning of September.
Home Office took money on 13th September (it was cheque)
Biometrics letter received and completed at noon on same day (Nov 27)
Waiting....

1. Current visa: Further Leave to Remain
2. Date of expiry of current leave: Oct 8, 2012
3. Application form used for ILR: SET (M)
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: 0
5. Date application posted: paperwork sent to solicitor at beginning of Sept
6. Date application received at UKBA: 11 September, 2012 (I think)
7. Date payment debited: 13 September, 2012
8. Payment made : cheque
9. Acknowledgement letter received: ?
10. Biometric letter received: November 27, 2012
