IT Service Desk Analyst SOC code

Post by shady87 » Thu Jan 10, 2013 9:36 pm

Can some please guide me as to which SOC code IT Service Desk Analyst falls into. I know that you must be offered a job at NQF Level 6 to be granted a Tier 2 Visa. I want to know if it qualifies as NQF Level 6

Thank you.

look at 2132 Software professionals - Operations Analyst
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... appendixj/
It is NQF 6 with minimum salary of £27000 in case of 37.5 working hours a week.

@adnreika:

My current salary is £21,600 and my employer is Tier 2 A rated sponsor. Will my salary be a problem?

then you need to choose another Code - just have a look at the link above. Alternatively, you can ask for a pay rise.
Make sure that even £21600 is salary for 37.5 hours week.

I have found a job that matches my job description in the SOC2000 volume 2 document containing jobs and their matching SOC code

Job tittle: Analyst, support (computing)

So I'm no longer going with Operational Analyst

Would that be a problem?

Thank you for your help.

If you download volume 2 of the document from the site below and search by the SOC CODE (2132) you should be able to find it.

http://www.ons.gov.uk/ons/guide-method/ ... index.html

I just need confirmation about the salary in relation to that job

I might be wrong, but I rely on the list from Home Office, not the one you provided.

http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... appendixj/
...
4. Occupations skilled to National Qualifications Framework level 6 or above are set out in Table 2.
...
8. Where stated in Tables 1 to 5, only those specific jobs stated within each Standard Occupational Classification code or creative sector field are considered to be skilled to the required level.
I believe you got information from here:
