ILtoWait wrote:Also, from my experience, irrespective of timeframes I believe nothing can be 'requested' until your application has landed on a caseworkers desk. Apparently at that point (or when they eventually get round to logging your application) the first thing that happens is the Biometric letter.

I called week in week out as well after 8 weeks but was told it hadn't reached a caseworker, so, you guessed it.....I had to wait.

I had to wait about 13 weeks all up for my letter. So I suppose my point is that some have to wait much longer to reach a caseworker than others.
I am not sure how it works. But when I called UKBA, a lady told me that it is unlikely that I will not have my bio metric invitation until Jan 2013. But the couple of days later, on 18.12.12, I called up UKBA. A guy who picked up the phone asked me to wait for 2 minutes and he confirmed me that he had requested for the bio metric invitation and told me it will take a maximum of 10 days to receive it. Incidently I received them on 20.12.12 dated 18.12.12. That made me think if you don't ask for it, you don't get it.

ILR on SET(O) - Ancestral

Post by Dassie » Fri Jan 18, 2013 2:09 pm

Thought I'd post my current timeline for any in a similar position.

Visa expiration date: 28 August
Sent date: 24 August
Confirmation letter: 30 August
Biometrics invite: 20 October
Biometrics completed: 24 October

I've made a Freedom of Information Act request as to processing times and the volume of applications received the week I applied, more for my own sanity than anything else. I'll let you know their response when it comes through.

I'm itching to contact my MP or phone the UKBA, however, they say to hold off on both of those until after the 6 months has passed.

Date received by UKBA: 06-07-2012
Date payment debited & date of letter from UKBA: 12-07-2012

Post by tasawar » Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:53 pm

I'm not sure how accurate this is - but I was told they only release the appointments up to a month in advance, on a day by day basis (and it would seem they book out fast).

So the strategy I was told was to try for appointments first thing in the morning for 30 days time.

I wish you the best of luck and sincerely hope you can avoid the latent quagmire of service we've all had to endure by post...

The appointment slots are open from 00:00 hrs onwards (yes midnight). The slots that open are for 42 days from that day. Log in to UKBA 3 minutes to midnight and start trying from 00:00 hrs onwards. The server might go dead. But don't worry keep trying and eventually you will get it. Once it shows you the slot and you have selected the desired one, it will ask for first name, surname and Date of Birth. Enter them and confirm. You need to be fast else the slots will be taken. I eventually booked an appointment but had to cancel it due to personal reasons. My friends tried this and it worked for them. One guy told me the server crashed when he input all his details and hit confirm. But luckily the next day he had an e-mail confirmation that his appointment is booked. It is a painful process and you may not succeed in the first day. Just keep trying the following days. Hope this helps.

I have been reading this post for many months now and waiting for my turn to share good news.

Application form used for ILR: SET (O)
Date application posted: 06 July 2012 via RM nextday
Money taken on the 16th July 2012
Acknowledgment on the 17th of July 2012
Biometric Invitation on 8th September 2012
Biometric Done on 8th September 2012

Since then, it has been waiting game.

I wrote my MP on the 4th of January 2013 and got a reply on the 6th of January that the home office have replied with a standard reply given backlogs as an excuse.
I got immigration firm to write last week. I have also been calling the HO nearly everyday.

I have just called them again, and I was told that a package has been sent out today. The person I spoke with gave me a tracking number and told me it was only sent out today and it was sent to my legal representative.

Though I applied on my own, but, last week I signed a letter of authority through my immigration firm. Now, they told me all correspondence will be to the firm.

Fingers crossed, I hope it is good news and hope it arrive soon.

My prayers goes to all that is waiting that you hope will not be dashed and you too will get a response too soon.

1. Current visa: TIER 1 GENERAL
2. Date of expiry of current leave: 30-07-2012
3. Application form used for ILR: SET (O)
4. Number of dependants applying at same time: 0
5. Date application posted: 20-07-2012 (Friday, via Special Delivery)
6. Date application received at UKBA: 23-07-2012 (Monday)
7. Date payment debited: 08-08-2012
8. Payment mode : CREDIT CARD
9. Acknowledgement letter received: 14-08-2012 (dated 08-08-2012, from Liverpool)
10. Biometric letter received: 11-10-12 (letter dated 4-10-12)
11. Date of biometrics Enrollment: 12-10-12
12. Date of approval: WAITING
13. Date of return of passport and other documents: WAITING
14. Date BRP ILR Received: WAITING

Just an update to say that, as today is my 6 month anniversary, I rang UKBA to find out what's going on and was simply told to keep waiting.

I politely, but quite firmly, pointed out that the 95% within 6 months posted on their website is grossly inaccurate and stated that I knew of many others who hadn't heard yet and could they please update the website with real figures? - somewhat surprisingly, she agreed and said most callers say the same thing and that she was very sorry.

My Tier 1 G extension, 3 years ago, took 3 weeks...this time around, it's ridiculous! If I'd had any idea that in 2013, I would still be waiting for ILR, I would have paid for a PEO...didn't see this thread until after I'd applied :(

My employer has insisted, at this point, that I allow them to write a "hurry up" letter on my behalf, but I doubt it will do much good!

I understand the frustration...I applied on 9th of June!

I too, didnt see this thread, as previous applications took just 2 weeks! They may ask your employer to call the 'employers checking service' for a 'right to work' certificate. They gave mine a certificate last september and it lasts 12 months.

I honestly didnt expect to be talking about ILR in 2013...and its really heartbreaking for me, as every other person who applied in June on this thread have long had theirs and gone away

When it delays this much, you start asking yourself a million questions :?:

MP wrote about 3 weeks ago, and they told her we should hear in 6 weeks, I think we're in the 4th week, and still no response. I come home from work every evening expecting a missed delivery, but nothing. These guys have a way of crushing a person's spirit.

Thanks :) I do know about the employer checking service. In that respect, I am very fortunate - my employer isn't pressuring me to prove my right to work in the UK, they completely understand what the problem is. It's that I need to travel quite a bit for work...I've missed 7 trips, and missed many career building opportunities because of that :(

When I applied for ILR, I had 9 weeks before my next work trip...and I thought that was plenty of time to get my passport back :(

Best wishes and fingers crossed that you get that missed delivery slip soon :)

Employers Checking Service

Post by SeanChessPlayerX » Wed Jan 23, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi everyone, i have been a silent reader on this forum for a couple of months now. Here is my timeline

Type of application: SET(M)
Type of previous residency: 2 years spouse visa
Date Applied: October 26, 2012 by signed for post
Date of the acknowledgement letter: October 30
Date of biometric letter: November 29 (received Dec 6)
Date of biometric enrolment: Dec 10
Date of approval: Pending
Any other development: No

I will like to know more about the Employers checking service, what is the process? how long does it take to get a certificate?

I have been offered a new job, but the employers are strict about their employment policies, they want to see my original passport. So i'm thinking i should take advantage of the Employment checking service.

I must also thank all the people that have been posting, this has been a great resource for me and it feels good to know you are not alone. All the silent readers, please start posting too.

Any input would be great.

All the best to everyone and I pray we all hear some positive news soon.
