Changes to British nationality Law

Post by omeo_21 » Thu Feb 21, 2013 8:58 pm

Hi Guys,

I heard that the changes were to take place to the nationality law from April 2013 meaning that people on ILR will no longer be able to apply for citizenship and have British passports, but will only be able to become permanent residents.

Is this true

thanks

I reckon it may be the dream of certain sort of people, but I very much doubt they will see that happen as soon as April 2013.

Unrelated, but meanwhile you may give a try at this: http://www.borderagencyscotland.com/

Do not spread the rumours without any authentic reference . If there was such thing it should be out on the ukba website.

Well, the only news related to changing the citizenship immigration laws was in late 2009 and early 2010 with regard to the probationary citizenship under the labour government. This has been completely disregarded since the new Tory's government in May 2010.

There are currently no statements of changes in immigration rules laid before Parliament regarding any changes of the citizenship laws; this is the first step for any change in any immigration law by the way.

Also, there is no reference online for any recent or upcoming change of the citizenship immigration law neither on Google nor on the UKBA website. So, please stop spreading rumours. Thanks.
