Might be accepted, but they're not wrong. The official advice says mistakes must be corrected by crossing out the erroneous text and putting the correct text in the next available boxes.

Indeed I have checked the leaflet ( did not bother as i applied for me and kids over many many times in last 30 years i assumed to know all :D)
the place where i put the tipp-ex on was section 4 i put first name first than crossed it out and tipp-exed it and moved to next boxes and put correct names that section is not even taken into consideration as My wife has been naturalised so no need for parent's details to prove she may be British. so let's wait and see
But the capital I was a real joke though

Update:

letter arrived today asking my Mrs to book appoitment so all went well as i expected it and again .The service from passport office is Top as always

Update

Interview went ahead today. 11.04.13
Most questions were about me and not my wife and were very difficult too but glad they made it hard for fraudsters. Mrs signed and the signature was not correct and was asked to sign again and it was accepted.
Some of the questions were a bit silly like when did you meet your husband? ..... how did you manage to get married and what job i did and where etc....

I had similar problem with them at the post office when i was about to post my son's passport application, i was asked to fill another application, i insisted that i don't have to and she was asking for more document, e.g my passport and my naturalization certificate and i explained to her that i don't need naturalization certificate because i have ILR b4 giving birth to my son, and my passport has been posted to naturalization section that i only have copy, she refused to accept it.
I just put a covering letter, put it in an envelope in her present and asked her to send it off, to God be the glory, i receive the passport today.
Sometime, they over do it
Its better to send all docs to the people concern
Good Luck to all

The IPS customer service is the best customer service I dealt with by a long way. I am not only referring to public bodies, but also some of the biggest household private company names. They are very efficient, friendly and highly professional. I plan to write then a letter of appreciation when I get a chance!!

Passport Timing

Post by rastro » Sat Mar 23, 2013 10:41 am

Application Timeline
Passport for: 1 Adult
Application Type: New
Method of application: Check & Send
Date of application: 4/03/2013
Date application received by IPS: unknown
Date of return of documents: 21/03/2013 (and I paid extra for special delivery!!)
Date of receipt of first interview letter: 14/03/2013
Date of receipt of second interview letter: 23/03/2013
Date of Passport Appointment: 25/03/2013 (Luton)
Date of Passport Receipt: 5/4/2013

When I called to schedule my interview after receiving the first interview letter, I realized that they had made an error on my birthdate (the year was 20 off), this caused over a week of delay and lots of nailbiting.

Update: I received a letter today in the post dated 2/4/2013 stating that delivery was attempted but no one was home to sign for it. Not sure why they didn't put a tag on my door/through the mailslot like DHL. I opted to go to their collection spot in NW London, and I've finally got it. So happy! Issue date on the passport is 26/3/2013, so a bit of an issue with delivery.

Less than 1.5 days between the interview and receipt of the passport.

I second that. and they were even more profesionals before in the days where you could just walk in and request a passport the same day.
