Immigration queries to NZ

Dear Friends,

I am an Indian citizen currently working in the UK under Tier 2 ICT. I am a software test analyst by profession.

I am planning to immigrate to New Zealand as a independent skilled migrant with the intention of settling in NZ.

Could you advice me on the below please.

1. How long it will take if I apply from the UK to get my skilled migrant visa including EOI pool selection.

2. Do I need to compulsorily pass IELTS, as I am working in the UK for more than an year

3. Can I submit the documents in case if I get selected in EOI to proceed further without producing original passport, as I may be asked to return to India anytime as and when my assignment completes in the UK?

4. Is there any benefit/advantage if I apply from the UK than from India?
