April applications running late

Post by tushars » Tue May 21, 2013 12:39 pm

psb wrote:It is still too early for applications submitted in mid April. It takes an average 6 weeks from the time the application is received.

There are two bank holidays in May and employees tend to take a long weekend. If some have Friday off, that is 4 working days less in May, almost a week.
You are right, i think thats what's causing the delays.
Although for us applicants, unfortunately we cannot stop thinking about it , even on bank Holidays :(

Agree, plus Easter bank holiday in March must have also contributed to backlog of work. End of May bank holiday coincides with half term so i wont be surprised to see further delays as people tend to take the whole week off to spend time with families.

I think this is further compounded by the PCS union strike on the 16th to the 19th of April http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... /28-strike although I am not sure whether this had a direct impact on the Naturalisation section of UKBA.

I have applied in May so I wont expect anything back before the end of June

Eligibility criteria: I don't know but I've had ILR since I was 16 & I'm now 24
Method of application: Postal (SD + Prepaid SD)
Date of application: 11/04/13
Date of receipt by UKBA: 12/04/13
Date of debit of fees: 19/04/13
Date of acknowledgement : 19/04/13 (received on the 27th)
Return of documents: 22/05/13 (received on 24/05/13)
Date of approval:
Date of invitation letter :
Date of Ceremony:

Ok, here's what happened with my application. On Friday (24/05/13) I received a letter from UKBA (dated 22/05/13) saying they need proof of my residence from the 27/02/12 - 12/04/13.

This is because my non British passport expired on the 27/02/12 and my application was received by them on the 12/04/13 so they needed me to account for the time period my passport was expired for.

No problem, I sent them all the documents they requested. They also sent back my documents they didn't need anymore, like the expired passport and my driving license so I've got those back.

I sent the documents they needed immediately back to them on Friday, (24/05/13) in an envelope they provided that had a reference and department number on it, by SD and also put another prepaid SD envelope in there. Now, because of the weekend and bank holiday they won't get it till Tuesday.

My question is, do you think that after they receive these documents I will get my approval quickly?

Because I think they are very nearly finished with my application, and if there wasn't the issue with the expired passport it would have probably been the approval letter I received on Friday! Ugh! So annoying! I was so excited when the postman came and I saw he had my prepaid self addressed envelope, only to find it wasn't the approval letter!

So basically, how fast do you think I will be receiving my approval letter? End of next week?

I know that no one knows and it's all just guesswork but I just want some reassurance. Lol.

Nothing yet :(

App was received on the 10th of April and fees debited on the 18th of April.

Looks like ppl whose applications were received in the 1st half of April are facing a longer wait then folks who applied after say 15th of April.

Really frustrates me sometimes. My application is also straightforward like many others who applied in early April.

Hopefully we all will receive some good news by 2morrow.
