Italian citizenship via marriage

Hi

My girlfriend is Italian and we are residing outside Italy. We intend to get married soon. I wish to know if the rule still applies whereby if I live with my Italian wife in Italy for 6 months I can apply for Italian citizenship?

Can I apply under a de-facto relationship?
