Post by rockybelbo » Mon Jun 17, 2013 8:28 am

Hi Friends,

Has anyone applied FLR (M) recently?
Can you please let me know the documents needed and how many years is the visa stamping for?

Thanks,

Rocky.

See Documents required

If you meet all these requirements you may be given permission to live in the UK for 2 and a half years. After that time you can then apply to stay for a further 2 and a half years if you meet the requirements. After 5 years, if you meet all the requirements you can apply for settlement. That is assuming the applicant is not under the old rules

FLR (M) 2nd extension In India

Post by rockybelbo » Tue Feb 02, 2016 2:51 pm

Hi,

This is pradeep and i hold ILR.
My wife got FLR(M) and will be expiring by Feb 20th.
She is currently in India and have to apply for the rest of 2 and half years extension from there.
I have gone through https://www.gov.uk/remain-in-uk-family/apply and have been given the below link to apply for visa which is not straight forward.
https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/home/welcome
It doesn't state FLR (M) in the visa type.
Has anyone applied FLR (M) from india.
I have confusion of which one to apply. Please find attached.
If both are wrong please let me know which is the correct category for FLR (M) applying in India.

Thanks & Regards,

Pradeep.

Extension on FLR(M) can only be made WITHIN the UK.

You need to apply for a new spouse settlement visa if she is applying from India, 'Apply to Join Family in the UK'

Can she not come back before her visa expires to apply for her extension in the UK?

Settlement
>settlement
>>wife

This might put her on a new 5 year route as it is a new entry clearance visa, but I am not sure.

How long has she been out of the UK on this trip?

Because your wife is not in the UK. The applicant must be present in the UK in order to apply for an extension (FLR (M)).

Applying for a visa from abroad is a new entry clearance visa application. FLR(M) is not possible outside the UK. She has to apply on VAF4A.

Applying from WITHIN the UK is a visa extension application.

Thats why I asked if she could possibly come back before her visa expires to apply for an extension.

Any specific reason why she can not return before the visa expires? Does she have medical issues that prevent flying, for example?

Cost etc detailed in the link I provided. You can also check the India Timeline thread.

She will also have to pay the £600 immigration health surcharge before she can submit the application.

She will need an English Language Assessment from NARIC is she wants to use her degree.
