I think it is quite useful to have 'real time' information about the most recent applications . I applied for my passport on the 21/06 and I find it very useful to know how people that applied just before me are getting on. Myself I have just been editing my original post without unnecessarily flood the forum at every change of status.

By the way this post is programmed to delete itself in 3 days

Passport application: Adult (after naturalisation) - first UK passport ofcourse
Method of application: PO Check and Send
Date of application: 01/07/2013
Date of fee collection: 01/07/2013 (paid at Post Office)
Date application acknowledged by IPS: 03/07/2013
Date of receipt of interview letter: 12/07/2013 (friday) (dated 11th July)
Date of return of documents: 15/07/2013 (I asked for non-secure delivery for return of documents; it was sent 2nd class in a brown envelope)
Date of passport appointment: 15/07/2013 (monday) Luton which was first available date in and around London (next available in London Victoria was Thur 18th July)
Date of passport receipt: 17/07/2013

* at luton, if you arrive more than 10 minutes before your appointment you won't even be allowed into the building (eventhough there are many waiting areas downstairs and upstairs in the IPS office)
* my appointment lasted under 15 minutes and it was a very casual chat

Or Alternatively, all of you can try using Skydrive for Passports. On how to use this, please follow this post

Note: Once you've added your record to the bottom of the table, sort the spread sheet first by Application Sent Date (Column E) Ascending and then by Passport Received (Column K) Ascending.

Journey is over.

The lady at IPS was amazing and so friendly. This was one of the best service I have ever recieved. I had my passport in under 24 hours. How good is that . Worst service ever in uk is UKBA.

Good luck to everyone and I guess my journey is over. Take care peeps. Lots of love to you all. Xxx

Its all over! 11yrs of waiting and anticipation. It will take another year to sink in that am really a British citizen who holds a British passport as not all do :) Could never have seen this day coming its important to dream and then just believe exactly what l did 10yrs ago.

So here is my numbers below

date of application via post and check- 17/06/13
date of text from HMPO- 20/06/13
date of receipt of interview letter from IPS-26/06/13
note: next available slot was following week in Victoria but Luton had a slot the following day, the IPS service is fantastic l think l just was unlucky to get this rude lady who lied to me and said the only earliest slot was only in Victoria next week so l booked it and then hang up.....couple of minutes later in the same hour l called them again and spoke to a nice gentleman who said they had loads of appointments in Luton the next day....so cancelled and rebooked for Luton...now the Luton people are just nice l was well looked after during my interview:)
so those of you who dont mind travelling a few miles further from london opt for other IPS centres if they tell you that the earliest is Victoria like the did to me don't believe them politely hang up and try cancelling and rebooking.
date of receipt of passport: 1//07/13 just delivered through letter box no need to sign anything.

Well well thats it no more worries no more interviews no more waiting am free finally Hope is a good thing!

I stumbled on this site about six years ago at the lowest point in my life had finished my university and did not know what do next wanted stay and work after studies did not know how...then google search yielded a discussion about the International graduate scheme on this site it was a miracle l was thinking of getting on the next plane to go back home and boom l saw an opportunity to stay here appeared and ever since....l have realised that the knowledge exchanged here is very up-to-date always at least five steps ahead on immigration changes and rules....this site is way better than a seasoned specialist immigration solicitor.... what l learnt here has helped me turn a student visa into a British passport....unbelievable l made it thanks all for contributing to my success good luck to all and l hope you find peace and happiness!

l will stay eternally grateful!

Hello Boys and Girls

Passport application: Adult (after naturalisation)
Method of application: PO Check and Send
Date of application: 02/07/2013
Date of fee collection: 02/07/2013 (Paid at Post Office)
Date application acknowledged by IPS: Waiting
Date of receipt of interview letter: Waiting
Date of return of documents: Waiting

By the way folks I came from my holiday and entered the UK 2 days ago without a UK passport. (Because an unexpected illness in my family
necessitated me travelling before i had a chance to apply for a UK passport. )

I filled in the landing card and presented my ILR card to the immigration officer.
I explained the situation and told him that i was a British citizen . He then took my finger prints using the electronic reader on the counter . Then he too confirmed that i am a British citizen then i passed thru.

Brothers and Sisters many of you wonder and i know that this question was asked in different topics but i still want to answer .
When i asked the UKBA officer very same question he confirmed me !!!
---Becoming a British Citizen does not invalidate your ILR card---

So if you dont have time to get your UK passport or in case of emergency you can travel in and out of the UK using your ILR card.

I just wanted to share my experience with you .

Look after yourselves

Is this the end of some sort of a journey? If it is, then I somehow am feeling very sad today. It's true that over the past many years I've experienced my fair share of anxiety and uncertainty and had few sleepless nights, but every time I stumbled on a stone or hit a wall I went back to the Almighty God and asked for his help and mercy. This always gave me a renewed hope and mighty confidence. I don't want to loose this connection and pray that may God continue blessing me as always- both in good and bad times.

My best wishes to all awaiting their British citizenship. I also convey my heartiest thanks to all the people who keeps this excellent site running.

Hi,
Just a quick question regarding your landing at the airport, which airport did you arrive at, that they had to scan your finger prints. I never had to scan my finger prints when I traveled on my foreign passport.

Hello lynxukauq

I came via Stansted airport and on the counters there were new finger print readers . I dont know if it is the same for other airports heatrow etc.

I was with my british spouse so we directly went to UK and EU passport holders counters and the rest of the story is as i explained.

by the way normally if you travel on a foreign passport as a british citizen
you should have the right of abode sticker in your passport but nobody asked me why i dont have it.
Now here i am in the UK and applied for my british passport .
when i get it , i will not need my other nationality passport.
I hope this helps
Best Regards

Thanks for your information.

You normally don't get ROA just like that, you have to apply for the sticker to be placed on your passport by filling in the necessary application form.
And it's not a must that you should have it. As long as your have your ILR card/sticker with you, you should be fine to enter UK.
