UK 4 years MEng failed to met English Requirement, pls help!

Post by Beckscum » Sat May 05, 2007 11:19 am

I have got a letter yesterday regarding my HSMP application has been refused because of my first degree MEng can not be used as a Bachelor degree to met the English Language Requirement  ; the original statement is as follow,

"The letter you have provided from the awarding institution does not contain the required information. It confirms the award of Masters degree but does not confirm a Bachelor degree was obtained"

I have to stress that my MEng obtained in the UK university is a 4 years Undergraduate Course, which is an integrated programme that include and build upon undergraduate study, at masters level, a level demonstrably above that of a bachelors degree with honours, and that is only offered to the post A-level student.

I am thinking to request a review and try to explain the situation; as the course information is available online, would it be a good idea to include the hyperlink in the appeal letter?

Is that any better way to tackle the issue?

Can anyone please help?

Thank you very much. :D

Yeah it wasnt straightforward for them so you have to simplify it.
For instance I had a dual degree program where you save one year by taking it in an integrated program. I received a law degree and business degree in 4 years instead of 5.
Maybe if you explain that its like a dual degree program instead of getting two separate convocations, you get one because you can not obtain the master's degree without having satisfied the qualifications for a bachelor's degree.

sandeep,

The processing time varies. For me it took around 9 days to make a decision.

They did not call my employer.

Hi,

I'm from India and will be claiming my previous earning using my Saral form and Form 16. My finance team is not giving me only 1 original form 16, so can I attach the certified copy of form 16 in HSMP?

I've been waiting for HSMP decision;

application delivered - 19 Apr 2007
fees deducted - 20 April 2007
Reference# recieved - 20 April (or I could say 21 April)

I've sent additional evidence right after reference # was issued,
and contacted some receptionists to hold my application.
They've told me that it wasn't still allocated to caseworker and
one of them kindly put a note on my file.

A receptionist told me my application is now with caseworker(s).
Fingers crossed!

Hope we all get approval!!

Hi All,
i sent my application on 23rd April and recieved ref no on 26th of April.
I have called HSMP today, and the lady told me that case worker has finished his work on the case and forwarded the recommendations to manager.
Is that unsual? anybody else got the same kind of responce?

just to mention, my application is an in country application.

I got my approval - fairly quickly.

Papers files on 26/04/07
Approved on 08/05/07
Notice recieved on 10/05/07

So, I guess, it took them less than 2 weeks to approve my petition.

Congradulation on your approval, BostUS!

Did you request a courier service?
Is that why you've got a notice from them?
and did you actually call them and spoke to your caseworker?

Anyways, it's nice to hear a good news!

Thanks, rising_sun.

I really don't know how the logistics were done as my lawyer handled all these issues.

I didn't call them and, as far as I know, my lawyer did not either. In fact, she was surprised herself how quickly my petition got approved. Although, I have to mention that she said from the very beginning that my application was very strong.
