This forum really helped in preparing the documents for ILR, thanks everyone for their valuable contribution.
Appointment was in the morning at around 10 am. Biometric was completed by 10:20 and the documents was ready for collection by 11 am. That was really quick, not sure they went through all the documents :) I only submitted the absolute minimum set of documents even though i carried some extra ones. My absences were less 180 days so didn't carry any employer letter and also no cover letter. I applied in Tier 1 general category.

Following were submitted.
1. Application form + photos
2. Passport & biometric cards
3. 12 month payslip
4. 12 month bank statement
5. Life in UK certificate.
6. Online payment receipt
7. Cohabitation documents(council tax + electoral office letter) for dependent.

Hi nithinnambiar,

Congrats..

What was your date of entry to the UK?

Appreciate your help on this, since I fall on the similar dates, but entered UK 24 days after the T1G visa was granted.

Regards,
Balan

Some clarifications

Post by Sandram48 » Sun Sep 29, 2013 11:40 pm

Nithin,

Congratulations on getting your ILR. Needed some clarifications as I attempt to fill in the application form. I entered the UK in Spet '08 on a WP and switched to Tier1 in March'09.

Filling in the form Set(o) and applied for a PEO at Croydon.

In section 6, immigration History, 6.2, did you list all absences from the UK? did you attach a separate sheet providing all the absences?
6.3 evidences for this absences listed? What evidences should it be a personal holiday?
6.4 when did you last enter the UK? Should I put down the date when I returned back from a short holiday in Europe last month as the date?
Section 7, 7.11, did you leave the table blank if absences were less than 6 months or just mention "none"

Section 10, Biometric residence permit, how did you answer 8,9 and 10.

Thanks
Sandeep

Nithin,

Appreciate the quick revert. WRT to Section 10, Q8 : Give details when your fingerprints were taken? should the responce be about the last time the Biometrics were taken when applying for the Tier 1 Extension?

Apologies for the barrage of questions!!

Thanks
Sandeep

Congratulations Nithinnambiar.
I had the appointment the same day as you at 8 AM. My absences were 200 days in one calendar year but none >180 based on application date. I had to therefore submit a letter from employer in addition to P60s.

Application Form + Passport +BRP +Payment sheet+photos
Life in the UK pass notification letter
12 months payslips and Bankstatements
P60s
Old work permit papers (I was WP + Tier 1)
Points calculator output
cover letter to illustrate the split based on application date.
Photocopies of all the above.

The office has become a lot posh since I last visited for my Tier 1 extension... from a ticket counter to a consulting desk :-)

I did not get a chance to speak to the case worker at all. They in fact did not ask for the photocopies. I offered it on my own and they accepted it.

I was slightly tensed in the preparation as my P60s for the first 2 years did not reflect HMRC employment history. But my company gave me confidence that the P60s are accurate so I did not submit the employment history letter.

I was quite surprised by the quick turn around actually...although I did not apply with any dependants...I came out at 8:45... 45 mins for ILR is incredible speed! The guy opening the door outside was surprised to see me coming out so fast. The letter they give after doesn't mention anywhere that ILR is granted. I was trusting the words of the person who gave the letter to me (I think she is the CW- she only said, your application has been successful and your BRP will reach your home address in a week. Please do not plan any travel meanwhile. I just said thank you and collected the letter and walked out...boring reply ;-)

I got my BRP today. Happy but more relief than happiness. I now subscribe to the thoughts some had on life after ILR...it isn't too different...

All the best to all those who are trying...happy to help

Yes, you need to put the details of when your biometrics were taken last time.

Clarification while filling in the form

Post by Sandram48 » Thu Oct 10, 2013 4:51 am

Nithin,

Needed a clarification.

Entry into the UK on 24th Sept 2008 on a WP.
Switched to a Tier 1 General,in country, on March 31st 2009.

My clarifications are:
Section 3: Which Category?
I am ticking the box, under section A, Tier 1 (General).
Do I also need to tick Work Permit Holder box in Section B?

Section 6: Immigration History
6.1: When did you first enter the UK?
Do I mention 24th Sept 2008, the date I entered the UK on a WP? or
Do I mention March 31st,2009, the date I switched to a Tier 1,General,in country?

The reason for my confusion:
If I mention March 31st,2009, the date I switched to a Tier1, then the period of calculation works to less than the 5 yr eligibility.
I have my original WP doc which I can attach.

Thanks
Sandram
