Conversations with Departmet Of Justice

Post by runie80 » Fri Jun 01, 2007 9:14 am

Hi Guys
Just opening this thread so we can all post our experiences after speaking to department of justice

here is my experience

The format should be

Name of person you spoke to=
What was the call in relation to=
what you were told=

I just finished speaking to them the person i was speaking with his name is DEREK. And the man was a complete KNOB! . his attitute was "whatever" yes it will eb done and bla bla bla and this.

I have applied for eu-1 and i called to ask for my papers back. And the man just took it as its not a problem at all.Why the feck they dont understand that our lives depend on this ?

I genarally have found women from DOJ to be more helpful than men.

He said my documents will be posted to me after couple of days of recieving the written letter which i have already sent.

And after 3 weeks of applying still my case is not in their system ?

Its crazy !

Anyone else having a rough journey with them :) i am sure you guys will not dissapoint me !

Please...don't get us started!!! I've spoken to so many people there & have received so much wrong information it's beyond a joke at this point. The last 18 months of my life has revolved around paper work which has lead to nothing, oh actually my EU1 was rejected! Only took them 9 months to reject me! Is that something? Actually I was told I never should have applied for it in the first place...but originally when trying to apply for my Long Term Residency Visa I was told that I MUST apply for my Spousal Visa as I am married to an EU National.
Oh...and trying to get our passports back...That was a complete nightmare! All I can say is...Good Luck!!!

IMPOSSIBLE = 0 !!!!

Man you are making me scared. You really went through the worst one can go through.Un believable. simply unbelievable.

If you say this happened in Africa or Pakistan or India

It will be All day on facing Sky News and BBC and all facing news papers

Its happening here so Its all pushed under the carpet.

You definately have every right to have greviences againt them.
I dont envy your situation.

They took longer than six months so did they not break rule of processing within six months .

In the end i will say its alll coz of the W-anker ! Mc Dowell

I don't want to start pointing fingers or passing blame onto anybody - specially not onto one person alone. I think it's just the system that has gone out of control. With so much immigration happening in sucha small country I guess it can be expected! But after living here for 6 years I thought I might stand a chance!
Anyway - the EU1 thing is in court at the moment so the 6 month rule went out the window. Besides, we are dealing with the law so to speak, so what can one do?
NOTHING!

I agree.

But for people who are living here since 6 years they are not new immigrants .We are the same old folks who are being treated as new.

We have been here for 6 years and its not a small time.

I just hope one thing "common sense" prevails.

As anyone with a least bit of common sense can understand our frustration.

I have decided i will go court if i have to unless given the residence.

Atleast i wont blame my self all life that i didnt stood up for my rights

Fingers crossed! Hope for the best !

Our lives depend on this

Yes the problem is that there is no counter where you can talk to anyone.

Its all done through post and phone calls

which are not much of help

I hope new minister of justice makes things work

and i also hope the court case goes in our favour

It will open the flood gates !

The only way we finally got a response is by faxing them the same letter 3 times a day for 3 days running.

Once your letter has been recieved asking the return of the papers.
I am thinking now not the believe them and raise my efforts.
See what happens i will keep you posted

I called today again and after 3 weeks of sending my papers my case is not even in the system.

Next time i think i have to start raising the temperature !

I sent them three emails, one every day. After the third, they acknowledge receipt of my e-mail and said that they would inform the Tanaiste about my situation.

On my e-mail, I was asking for our passports back. They received the application on May 11th. I will wait until Tuesday or Wednesday (because of the Bank holiday). If I do not get anything on the mail, I'll start writing (and faxing) again.

stamani, it's too easy to block an email address.
(but do we even count that they can use their email client)?

I think the excuse of 'Ireland didn't ever have to deal with immigration and they are just overwhelmed now' is a load of b.

There aren't a lot of EU-citizens with a non EU-husband/wife that would like to live in Ireland, its not a big country anyway.

It's a fundamental right that a wife and husband should be able to live together. If it isn't, then they should have clearly marked that on their website/phonecalls/emails.

We are making our life decisions on the information that they give us.

Once here, they start to change the rules on us.

They are only open 6 (or 10?) hours per week, what do they do the rest of the time? Sit drink tea, and bullshit about how they've ruined other peoples lives?

Dutch husband, American wife, applied for a residence card, after 7 months got a Stamp 4 visa for two years. :)
