Passport Application

Hi all,
I just made application for British Passport, through Post Office Post and Send, but I only put the Naturalisation Certificate in the application, I didn't put my passport, as I thought they have already seen the Passport.
A friend told me that they will ask me to send my passport and that they can refuse because I didn't send it in the first place.
Is it true?

You should have sent any uncancelled passport. Did the post office not tell you this?

No, Post office didnt tell me, they just said it was fine. Anyway if they need it I will post the passport to them, again,
