I'm seeking advise for a mate who has just been granted leave to remain as refugee. He received his BRP today. My questions are:

1. Can he travel to EU member countries with the BRP, without a national passport?

2. How does he go about applying for a CTD? he called a number supplied in the letter sent to him by the HO confirming his status, but couldn't get through to anyone, and had no success in making any sense of what next to do.

3. What documents doe he have to submit to make the application?

cheers, guys..looking forward to hearing from anyone.

cheers.

Alrighty,
I have been looking at everyone posts since i applied for my TD. I generally wasn't confident to do it directly to HO and i asked my solicitor to do all the legal actions on my behalf.

Here its my timeline:

Date of application: 17th of July 2013
Date of receipt by UKBA: 19th of July 2013
Date of debit of fees: 19th of July 2013
Date of receipt of acknowledgement: 29th July 2013
Date of receipt of travel document: 9th December 2013

Although it took them 101 working days to issue my TD, i was also informed by my solicitor that he ended up sending them a letter to speed things up otherwise they need to answer what has took them so long to issue my TD in court.

It's not fair if they charge people instantly but all of sudden forget about their application.

There is no formality on how they process the TD's.

Long story short, It's been really great to see your posts here, it did calm me down.

First of all Congratulation about your baby, then if you have settled status in the uk you need to filling British passport form straight away I hope you will receive within a seven days new style British passport and enjoying your holiday if you don`t have ILR Status then your child has same status as your when you receive you ILR then you can applying Registration as British through MN1 Sec 1.3 after that your child will be eligible for British passport.
Best wishes

Why you are wasting your money its very simple TD112 Form you can fill in your self or any advice centre free of charge. normally its taking 6 or 7 month to receive your travel document. Even if you have emergency to travel the home office will not proceeds until in line with queue I don`t think the solicitors will push them.

I would like to share some information about my Child who are bone here but when I was applied for his passport IPS refused him due to not eligible at that time because at the time we had just Refugee status without ILR that is why the home office suggesting me to applying for leave to remain as refugee as dependent of main applicant. After when I received his refugee status then I was applied for his travel document and within a 20 days I have received travel document. I think the information will help you.

Hi babe khyber,
I am in the same situation, we both father and mother have refugee status and we need to apply for CTD for our baby who was born in UK. My question is do we need to apply for "leave to remain" first and then for CTD or can we apply for both in the same form as the CTD form says "Application For A Home Office Travel Document And A Biometric Residence Permit". Because I am really worrying about the cost of application separately for Leave to Remain". I already made an application to UKBA using CTD form and fee was deducted. I am now worrying what would happen. plz give me some advice if you are aware of this.

Refugee status as dependant is free of charge don`t worry just applying in a letter not in the form + send full birth certificate and your refugee status. you don`t need to send other documents like bank statement or pay slip after 31/Oct/2005 ILR is stopped with refugee status but as dependant refugee is entitle for applying free of charge.
