Hi Guys,
Following is my timeline,

Application type : AN Spouse of EEA(5+1.5years)
Method : NCS Lanark
Date : 15/oct/2013
Date receive by HO : 17/oct/2013
Date of fees : 12/nov/2013
date of acknowledgement : 16/nov/2013
Approval/query/rejection : waiting :(

I believe there are a few people in this forum with similar timeline, congrats to all those who have already got their approval.
For the rest of us, one thing the HO does really well is to teach and test our patience level.

Like some one said earlier, there is no structure as to how Home office processes the application and I believe her delay had nothing to do with the request of the documents to be returned. The reason why I am making this assertion is because I requested for my documents to be returned and there is NO WHERE in the accompanying letter where I was asked to acknowledge that the return of the documents could cause a delay. Rather the letter states that 'Applications are considered broadly in order of receipt and dealt with as quickly as possible. Contact us only if necessary, as dealing with inquiries delays work on applications'.

If she received a letter saying that a request for return of document could result in delay, then probably she had a unique issue with her application.

I am not trying to challenge your views , i just want us to put the facts out there, for other users in the forum to make informed decisions. Speculations could have the adverse effect. :-)

I agree with you, nowadays a 2-month waiting time is pretty much normal for everyone. There are slight variations on processing times which I believe is due to the pace of the case-worker and the way applications are sorted & distributed (randomly). I wouldn't mislead people to recall their documents.

Anyway don't take me wrong, I have just expressed my thoughts.
I totally agree with you 'Malafat' that applications are sorted and distributed randomly. home office received my application on the 22nd of October 2013 and from what I could gather from them when i spoke to them over the phone, my application had not been assigned to a case worker as at the 23rd of December 2013. so probably i may be looking at waiting for yet another month before i receive a decision from them. Honestly i'll just take my mind off the whole thing and wait till they get back to me. There is no point worrying over nothing. Eventually they will get back to us all by God's grace. Amen

Although, I'm still in the process of compiling data, these samples will give a rough idea about sample applications, percentage of payment taken & percentage of approvals:

A big thank to jotter for helping on data for these charts.

Nice work guys.

From what I can see of the reported applications, there are as many applications lodged in the week of October 21 as there have been for the entire months of November/December. So expect things to pick up quite quickly once the backlog is cleared for October (it almost is).

I remember there was a case for Oct 29th which has received the approval somewhere in Dec.

Yep, that was pqek. Still the only post-KOLL-change approval that we've heard from (or even fee deduction for that matter).

I thought 26th was Saturday and therefore non working day. Are you sure the last day for old rules was 26th?

Last day for old rules was when HO received application on 25th Oct, anything after that would be considered with new rules. So above application received on 26th would be considered under new rules.

Yep we were fortunate. We had thought will be applying in the new rules but got a phone call from our NCS a day before stating that UKBA had decided to work an extra day and open on Saturday as they were overwhelmed with applications and wanted to get more people through the old system.

So if your application was received by the UKBA on 26th Oct you are still in the old rules!!

Sorry, don't want to scare you... but are you sure? Home Office website clearly says

"For an application for citizenship to be considered under the pre 28 October requirements, the application will need to be received by UK Visas & Immigration by Friday 25 October 2013 (the last working day before the change). We do not receive a postal delivery on Saturday or Sunday."

Yes I am pretty sure. Wife had taken all the other documents for English language requirement. NCS said they were not needed and only took a copy of LIUK certificate. We also have tracking of the royal mail delivery mentioning recieved application on 26th Oct.

So they did not advertise this but clearly had opened on 26th Oct. Why would NCS Bristol give us false information and not take the other English language documents otherwise?

There was one from October 29th - the only one we know of so far. It should be borne in mind, though, that there seems to have been as many applications in the single week of October 21-27 than there have been in the whole of November & December combined, so as soon as the HO gets through the applications for that week, expect things to speed up. It's the applicants from end of October who will probably have the longest wait.
