my extension for discretionary leave to remain is due in september 2014...

I came in england jan 2001 student visa then i got work permit in 2005 dec...for 5 yrs but in 2010 my company went bankrupt and i applied ILR on 10 yr basis.

I stayed more than 18mths abroad in 10 yrs my case was rejected...then in appeal on the basis of family (wife and two daughters age 6 and 3) article 8 i got discretionary leave.

I then applied visa for my wife and kids as my dependent...we waited for a year...as her parents were very will she with drew the case and went back...

My question is can i apply again ILR on long term residence as i now fulfil the criteria. My limited leave to remain expires in sept 2014

Hi friends

I came to uk in 6th june 2003. Was on student visa for 6 years psw for 2 years n tier 1 for 2 years n I applied nearly 20 days before completion on my 10 years as my tier 1 was expiring on 17th may 2013.
.
My wife came in feb 2007 as my dependant n has been my deoendant since. We had a baby born here in 2012.

So I sent my set (LR) along with my wife ( and baby )'s flr (M)
On 15th may n did my bio metric On 2nd august. It has been 8 montgs since I applied but havent heard anything from ukba.

I have read somewhere that almost all the set (lr) application sent in August have been completed by ukba but mine was in May still havent heard anything

I was thinking that after finishing my application tgey have to take decision on my wife's application. Is that why tgey are taking so long?

if you can enlighten me on what I should do or why they are taking so long then it would be hugely appreciated.

Many thanks

Mustakim

Hi Mustakim,

If I were you, I would approach my MP and ask him/her to intervene. As far as your case is straightforward and you haven't been charged for a criminal offence here or back in your home country, there should be no reason as to why this process should take 3/4 of a year.

1) Write a compelling e-mail to your MP and include case reference number;
2) Also, attach a letter addressed to the UKVI. If your MP decides to take an action on your behalf, s/he will write to them and attach your request to expediate the process;
3) Wait for a week and re-fax that letter to UKVI

Contact centres give no information whatsoever. They are call centre workers and not case workers. The call centre is in London and case work is done in Liverpool. The call centre system is not that sophisticated to provide updates (watch the April 2013 Channel 4 'Dispatches', which mention about their outdated IT systems). The only way to get reach your case worker is via fax, a letter or through your MP.

Wish you a best of luck and hope you get a positive response soon. :)

Thank God and thank you for this wonderful board and the support here. Wishing everyone else the best.

Please update the skydrive:

Application sent: 3rd October 2013
Acknowledgement Letter: 7th October 2013
Biometics Letter: 22nd October 2013
Biometrics done: 25th October 2013
Approval Letter and Passports: 9th January 2014
BRP: Waiting

I have to say that I sent them two extra letters post application. One to explain I had travel plans in December and January (for holiday) which were ignored. I then have an urgent work trip end of January and so my employer sent a letter and faxes asking for expediting the process, I also called the case worker to ask for expediting. They never said they would expedite it. So I am not sure if this is just the natural processing time it would have taken anyway.

Hello tweetiebird
Congratulations, i think the letters you wrote must have been honored and made your application a bit faster than the normal processing time. HO is too proud to admit it but i guess your letters must have been acted upon.
Goodluck in you Naturalisation application in 12 months time.

Hi All,
Please add my time line to the shared space!

Application Sent: 30/09/2013
Payment Taken out : 03/10/2013
Acknowledgement letter: 03/10/2013. Received on :09/10/2013
Biometrics letter received: Its was date on 17/10/2013, Received on 21/10/2013
Biometrics enrolled: 22/10/2013
Approval’s : WAITING

Well done to all who worked hard to get to an ILR status as we know what we have gone through. For me loads of jobs, travel opportunities are flattened simply because having a non ILR visa. TBH I don’t believe in God (not to offend anyone) but I strongly believe the efforts guys have taken is simply great (Guys who share and the Guys who help)

My case is not straight forward but I have provided much info as I could with my application. Just writing these as it could be useful to someone. I have travelled 15 times in the last 10 years and provided the visa stamps and brief explanations to all visit
I had an IN10 in my license.(insurance offence) – just because I was transporting some boxes of sweets to my friends shop as a favour (one off time) and I was unlucky to be pulled over. I was unaware of having business insurance, if I want to carry such things and told the man the truth. But the officer showed his true colours by giving me 6points and £200 fine even though I have mentioned the above.

Remember IN10 -driving without insurance is a criminal offence and visa will be refused – this is what I heard recently. But my case is still IN10 – but the offence is slightly different. Not sure how the intelligent (!) case workers will look in to this.
Thanks
A

Hi Tweetiebird,

I just had one question and will greatly appreciate if you could answer that:

How many days did it take for the Home Office to respond to your request to expediate the process? (i.e. after you sent them proof of travel etc.)

Was it straight away? A week? couple of days?

Thanks in advance

I would be very grateful and appreciate if anyone can help me in my following issues:
I'm in the UK since 2014 as a student. In Jan 2013 i have applied for human rights case via FLRO and UKBA refused me in Nov and give me the appeal rights. They didn't return me back my passport and and all documents. I appealed against the decission and got my hearing date on 1/8/2014. I'll be 10 years in the UK in 20/6/2014. My ques is without my passport (I don't have any driving licence only have photocopy of my passport) how can I sit for LIUK test & English test? and what's the possibility of getting ILR in this scenarios??
I don't have any criminal records, was outside of UK once only for a month, didn't overstay etc.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

By the grace of Almighty, I have received my approval letter today. It was dated (19/01/2014) which was Sunday! I believe my case was straightforward. I have been on student visa for 5 years then on PSW and Tier 1(G). Have been out of the country for less than 200 days ..

Many thanks to this forum and it's very helpful members trying to help others. Wish you the very best for all who are still waiting ..
