Guys, I know this post is not for here but I've got a question.
I received my documents last week and the letter, stating that I should wait for an invitation to a ceremony, which may take approximately 2 weeks but as far as I can see, it normally comes straight after the documents. Should I call the HO and ask them whether they have actually sent it or wait?

But in the letter it's written that I should wait to receive an invitation and If I don't receive it in the next 2 weeks, then I have to contact them and ask.

You should probably just follow the instructions in the letter, which say to wait for two weeks and then get in touch.

Eligibility criteria : HSMP (JR) 1yr + 3yrs + 2.5yr on ILR (was out of country in between)
Current nationality : Indian
Language criteria met : See Part-1
Method of application : Royal Mail Special Delivery
Date of application : 04-NOV-2013
Date of receipt by UKBA : 05-NOV-2013 (tracked via Royal Mail website)
Date of receipt of acknowledgement : 15-JAN-2014 dated 09-JAN-2014
Date of debit of fees : 15-JAN-2014
Date of receipt of query about KOLL : 18-JAN-2014 dated 14-JAN-2014
Language criteria met : See Part-2
Date of receipt of approval : 12-FEB-2014 dated 04-FEB-2014
Date of Ceremony : TBA (have been asked to contact local authority)

Part-1
I had printed out the form and partially filled it a few months before 28-OCT-2013. That did not mention the KOLL
requirements and it never occurred to me to go check if the form had changed. So only document satisfying KOLL
requirement sent at this time was the original pass letter of the Life in the UK test.

Part-2
Got a query to submit KOLL requirements. Emailed them docs on 18-JAN and got an automated reply saying
you will not receive any reply. So waited a few days and then sent email to another of their email addresses.
Got the standard no-reply email again. But finally someone there had the courtesy to reply on 22-JAN saying they cannot
accept email and need to send by post.
So posted the following docs on 24-JAN by 1st class - printout of Points Based assessment (PBS) from UKBA website for
my Indian degrees and photocopies of my degree certificates

(sorry just added little more info thinking it might help anyone in similar situation ..appreciate the forum very much)

Hello Sam800,
it seems like your application has been successfully processed now. Congrats.
Could you please confirm:
1- Was your degree from India (and was it Bachelors or Masters)
2- if yes, did you validate your degree from NARIC? Did they confirm if it meets C1 criteria?
3- Which documents (exactly) did you send them as part 2 when requested?

I am in a similar situation with my wife :s. Her degree is not from UK and I have submitted our application as joint.

kind regards,

Dear all,

Thanks everyone for your contributions and support. Finally received the approval today.

I would like to give some further information about my application. I did not send any originals or did I use NCS, instead I only sent certified photocopies and made a self application. It only cost me 50£ to get it certified by a solicitor although others may charge a lot more. It did save me a lot of time though as I was not able to get any NCS appointments to my preference nor did I have to take any time off work. Having previously made various successful UKBA applications I trusted myself to get this one right too and indeed I have.

All the best to those waiting.

Hi rishahid,

1-Yes, degrees were done in India. I had submitted copies of both Bachelor's degree as well as my Master's degree.
2-No, did not validate with NARIC nor confirm if it meets C1 criteria ( I had read on this forum but on a different KOLL topic that home office people were saying if UKBA site's PBS evaluation comes out to the required points, that would be sufficient, so I tried that route)
3-Sorry, not sure what details you require here other than what I have already mentioned in that post - "printout of Points Based assessment (PBS) from UKBA website for my Indian degrees and photocopies of my degree certificates" ...

Best of luck on your application,
sam

Date of receipt by UKBA: 25/10/2013
Date of debit of fees: 09/01/14 (an attempt made on 30/12/13 but my credit card was surprisingly rejected, although it was valid. I was sent a paying in slip which I scanned back to them as well, as sending in the post. Someone called me from the HO when they received my scanned paying in slip, and they took my payment over the phone.)
Date of acknowledgement letter: 14/01/14
Date of approval: 10/02/14 received on 13/02/14

I called the HO today to find out what was happening, because I wanted to make sure that my file had been passed to a caseworker due to the fact that I had to request for my documents (I forgot to mention that I requested for my documents on 28/12/13 and they arrived with my acknowledgement letter). The lady I spoke to expressly said that NOTHING had been sent out to me, but I had my approval waiting for me at home in the famous brown envelope.

Basically, the left hand is not communicating with the right hand, at the HO.

Good luck to the rest of you waiting. British Citizenship is not the be all and end all (after all there are homeless Brits), but it is one less thing to worry about! This forum has been a great source of comfort to me and I am happy to answer any questions. God bless you all.
