November 2013 - Naturalization Application Timeline

Well i know every one is waiting for the result so am I, want to add my 5 cents here

Eligibility criteria: 5 years on (work permit + Tier 1) + 1 Year ILR
Language criteria met (UK degree, exempt countries, PBS used documents, NARIC, or B1 test): B1 equivalent ESOL Test
Method of application: NCS
Council name if NCS used: Reading, Berkshire
Date of application: 07/11/2013
Payment method CC/DC, Personal cheque, Bankers cheque etc: CC
Date of receipt by UKBA: 12/11/2013
Date of aknowlegment: 17/01/2014 Dated 11/01/2014
Date of debit or clearance of fees:
Date approval received: Waiting
Date of ceremony: --

I called them today to check status and I was told by the lady that my application is in progress and not completed yet so I am expecting another couple of months .......

Guys, thank you so much for your effort in keeping this forum in this organised way. I believe it became my support website during all this time. It kept my mind busy while the process lasted.

I'm one the November applicants. Brief summary of my timeline;

NCS-Dudley council
applied on 13th November 2013
payment deducted on 13th January 2014
acknowledgement letter receive on 17th January 2014
Approval.......still waiting

I'm currently out of the country and hope to be back by Easter time...I've tried to call the UKBA on 01516725626 from abroad but they seem not to have any option that can put you through to someone. All options are set to default...'please send us email for update on your application'.

Does anyone know of any other number I could use to reach them.

These charts are based on people reported their application information on this forum in timeline thread. This is neither official stats from HO nor verified for accuracy from Home Office.

It is all based on what users of this forum posted their timeline. As long as that information is accurate, these charts will be.

Does anyone know what the role of the case worker is in this whole process?

Does the case worker do all the statutory enquiries before they make a decision (ie the first step after the fee is taken) ?

Or does the case worker just receives all the results of the enquiries made, and based on the results they make a decision (last step finalizing the application) ?

From posts here I understand that case worker receives the results and makes a decision.

I have been googling a bit and found the below. This is from 2011. Someone asked a question regarding random allocation of case workers and HO response to that.

1. Procedures followed after the receipt of naturalisation applications both NCS and Postal from date of receipt of application until allotment to a case worker.

Upon receipt of an application the form is date stamped and the fee is taken. A paper file and an electronic record are then created and the file is ready for allocation to a Casework team. Files are allocated in date order. All Nationality Casework

2. The reasons why some applications are jumping the queue for case worker allotment.

So looks to me like case workers does the below

Does the case worker do all the statutory enquiries before they make a decision (ie the first step after the fee is taken) ?

When I enquired about my case, the response I got was below. So I believe another month or two for a descision

I can confirm that your application is awaiting allocation. Once the application has been allocated to a caseworker your application will then be processed

Application date : 18/11/2013
Ack : 18/01/2014 (Dated 13/01/2014) - Failed fee attempt (After almost 2 months)
Fee taken - 27/01/2014 - Successful (After more than 2 months)
Ack : 24/02/2014 (Dated 20/02/2014) ( A month after the fee was taken).


Total shambles really and they are have allocated caseworkers for Jan and probably even Feb applicants..

amity010 - most likely your application went to the back of the queue after they failed to get payment in the first attempt. Be patient, it'll come!

I do understand that it might have gone back to the queue. But the fee was taken out on the 27th Jan. I wonder why it takes them more than 1 month to allocate it to a caseworker (still not allocated) when they have already allocated the January applications for whom the fee was taken on/after after 27th Jan to caseworkers and some of them have received approvals as well. . Honestly...no other option ..but just wait.

Don't think that causes the delay. I am myself struggling to find out why Jan apps are getting approvals while previous ones are still waiting!

Just going through the January timelines, people who had their fees taken around 24 Jan received their approvals on 22nd Feb. I am sure yours is around the corner. Take it easy!

I would assume that for that to happen it needs to be assigned to a case worker . So that they can start working on the application

FYI....Today I got a response back from Nationality helpdesk that all the checks/enquiries are done by the case worker. So this is first step once the fee is taken. So I believe still a long way to go.

Any one call to ukba today ?

I called the 0870 606 77 66 number ( option 3) and spoke to a lady who told me the following:

Your application is currently with a caseworker......she then asked me 'have you received any documentation from us...my response 'no, apart from the acknowledgement letter......her next question...'what is your address'.....I responded as per the question and then she did a few more check and got back to me saying.......'your application is nearing completion, you should here from us shortly .


She was not precise on how much longer I could wait but I'm assuming shortly means a couple of weeks.

Congratulation for all of those who have got their naturalisation approval.
I'm a Nov applicant, and still havent heard anything from the UKBA. my case should be straight forward for the case worker, and I cant understand why its taking so long. It look like there are still a lot of Nov pending applicants, but it might also mean they got their approval and forgot to put their timeline. can I please ask the November applicants to show up so we can have really an idea on the pending applications.
