British Passport application processing timelines (only)

Hi guys! Silly question, but I am confused!
I had my ceremony yesterday but I have not got my original passport back yet. Can someone tell me if I need to put it in my British passport application or do I just need to put my naturalization certificate only? If I do need to put my original passport in then when can I expect it to arrive? Thanks!

You need to send all uncancelled passports. Looking at the timelines thread you should have it back in around 2-3 weeks time.

Hello guys,

Just a quick question.

I applied via po check nd send on sat 21st and checked with hmpo yesterday if they recd my application.
However they haven't yet !
Juz wondering does it take more than 4 days for them to receive it ? Is it ?

I guess, after HO, even HMPO has got many applications in short span, so it might take bit more for them to put applications on their system.

Recently many naturalisation applications got approvals, so expect delay at HMPO, give them a week or so.

Don't worry, it takes a while for the applications to be logged on the system.
Even though I received the SMS 6 days after sending the application the helpline people could not confirm anything for another 2 days, so give it at least 7-8 days.

Sorry to hear about this zubbshah. I dont quite understand the point of the check and send service, its a simple 4 page form. Also from the timelines on this thread they seem to take upto a week to send the application to ips whereas if you apply yourself it reaches next day.

I was thinking to give them a call today but, I woke up with the door bell today and the postman hand me a very small envelope, never though it would be the passport but the moment I had it in my hand, there it was my passport. (my photo came out totally awesome btw)

I have been following this forum since my naturalisation application date. Always been a great support reading other's experiences and advices. <3

It says it was delivered from their Belfast offices on the 24th of this month and checked the signature. .its says recd by hmpo...been scribbled. ..
Hmmm....a bit curious. ...it was posted thru West London post office nd it says delivered by Belfast office.....
Is this how it works ?
I thought..its recd in Victoria office. ..casue the application was from London ??

The enquiries hotline are useless really, they have no idea where the application is in the process. I had called them on the 26/02/2014 to enquire, and they couldn't even tell me that my docs were posted or my letter was issued. I called them a week after I applied and my application was still awaiting in a queue to be sent to examination. Sounds like people had better luck applying themselves rather than the post office. I think the timelines are longer via the post office; but they actually helped me complete the application properly. I had no idea what I was doing as i was rushing it, but they guided me to fill the right boxes, so the service is not so bad after all; just takes longer judging from other on the forum.

I'd like to thank everyone on this form for the support and really valuable information through the entire process.

When you call them they usually ask you where you would like to have the interview and give you the 1st available date.
Of course, if it is not convenient for you it could be changed.

I submitted my application last week and called them today regarding status. The guy on the phone was very rude and said not to call before 6 weeks !!

call them again and hopefully you get someone nice and ask them if your application is in progess.

Or we have to wait for letter from them ?

No you have to wait, its not the same number its definitely a different one

Just been for my interview this morning, hopefully it all went ok although the guy was a rather miserable old man! When I got back home they had returned my passport and naturalisation certificate!
When I opened my my passport one of my pics (the signed one)
I sent fell out! There is no letter or anything saying there is a problem with it!
I rang them and they said they have everything they need so I am assuming they made an error somewhere! I hope it doesn't delay my passport
