Referees for BC

Post by navalaviator » Fri Feb 28, 2014 3:59 pm

Hi,

One of my referees is a Doctor and he is a British citizen while the other one is NOT a professional but he is over the age of 25 and he is a British citizen too so I need to know that if they meet the requirement to act as referees as I'm quite confused after reading the form and guidance AN that one of them should be of any other nationality and must be a professional.

Both referees can be British, it does not have to be another nationality professional.

Thank you for your reply, so it means that ONE British Doctor and another British Citizen who is NOT a professional are acceptable?
Sorry for being daft

You are correct. First referee has to be a professional from the approved list and the second one just has to be British citizen over 25 years of age and they both should know you more than 3 years.
I am sometimes wrong.

One of my referees who is NOT a professional was sent to prison for six months more then 10 years ago for taking his son back home without his wife's permission so I need to know that if it makes him a suitable referee or not?

I don't think his character is important as HO would have stated it so.

Please scroll down to page 11 and read the referees eligibility criteria.
We will not accept a referee who has been convicted of an imprisonable offence during the
last 10 years (unless that conviction can be disregarded in line with the table shown on
page 16 of the Booklet AN)
cheers
