2 years or 3 years tier 1 general first extension??

Post by bilal_zain » Fri Feb 28, 2014 1:33 pm

Hi,
I Just need some information if any one could help.
I applied in March 2011 and finally got my tier 1 general extension on 26/02/2012.
This was first tier 1 general visa and for 2 years from 27/02/2012 to 27/02/2014. Now I applied for extension on 26/02/2014 and today I received biometric card stating only 2 years visa on it.
I should have issued this time 3 years of visa extension. am I right?? or the rules have been changed.
are they issuing only 2 years visa even for the first tier 1 general extension???
Thanks a lot in advance

Thank you very much for your reply. I have emailed home-office and got reply that they are correct in issueing me 2 years visa and refer to me UKBA guidance. I checked the guidance and it says that I should get 3 years of visa this time. I have copied and paste the guidance notes into my email to home office again with the web link. Now I am waiting for their reply. I will go to PEO office myself as recommended in the reply email from home-office.
Its very disappointing when you such a huge amount of fees (£6522) and get this poor result.

couple of people in this forum had their period revised to 3 years after pointing out the error to ukba. try searching for their posts. good luck.

Hi,

I recently got my extension with my dependents. I am also confused about the extension period.

Entry clearance 2009 to 2012 (3 years, but entered uk on 2010)
1st extension 2012 to 2014 (2 years)
2nd extension 2014 to 2017 (3 years)

I thought the extension should be 3 years +2 years +2 years as my entry clearance was before April 2010. I really dont understand why they have given 3 years for me and also I noticed most of them getting 3 years in the 2nd extension irrespective of their entry clearance visa period. Is it something I need to check with homeoffice or shall i leave this as I will be eligible for ILR on 2015?

Thanks

Your 3 year extension is correct as per rules. Don't do anything. Search this forum for others who contacted Home office to be told 3 years if fine.

Hi all,
Just wanted to update that I got letter from the home office complaint department saying that they have made an error and we should have been issued with a 3 years visa and asked us to send back the BRP cards. I have already posted them off to home office and waiting for new cards. If any body any more info then plzz email me re this issue. Yhanks

Hi Bilal,

Please could you post the exact content of Home Office's response letter?

I'm going to apply for the 2nd extension and worry about whether I will be granted a 3-year extension.

Thanks very much!

Extension or ILR?

Post by Wbhanji » Thu Nov 06, 2014 3:59 pm

Dear All,

Please advise.

My residence permit is valid till Nov 2015. I got my initial visa on 15 Nov 2010. My dependents (wife and son) initially came on July 14, 2011 but went back after a year because of my mother in law's ill health and because of this, they had to stay there and their visa got expired on 15 Nov 2012 and they renewed the visa from Pakistan and then came back in May 2013.

Please advise in this scenario, are they eligible extension for ILR with me?

thanks
wasim
