Qualifying period confusion - Please help.

Post by jjkumar_73 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 12:27 pm

Dear Forum

I am trying to find this information and searched the forum & FAQ but I am not clear.
Sorry if have asked similar question posted before.

My wife arrived to Uk in Nov, 2008 as dependent.
she got ILR on Jan, 2013 after being in UK for 4+ years. (along with me)
She has now completed 13 months after getting ILR.

Since she came to UK in total she has resided in UK for only 5 years 3 months.
Is she eligible to apply for applying British Citizen ship now ? (along with me)
Or does she has to complete 5 + 1 years before applying for citizenship ?

Please kindly help to clarify.

Thanks
Jay

Yes.

There is no 5+1. It's 5 years of residence and 1 year after ILR (two separate requirements).
Check the FAQ before posting!
Citizenship (adults, children, passport)
EEA (EEA FP, RC, PR, Surinder Singh)

She has completed 5 years of residence. Tick.
She has ILR for at least 12 months. Tick.

If she meets the other requirements (absences, English etc), she can apply.

Sorry one more question please . Is "Life in the UK test" alone sufficient to prove the English language requirements ?
