Pre-settled status and travel

Post by dothar3 » Sun Feb 03, 2019 12:57 am

My question is regarding travel from countries such as Pakistan with a pre-settled (or settled) status once the residence card expires and is no longer valid. We do not receive a card to prove our status in the UK (but just a link proving the status on the gov.uk website).

My wife has pre-settled status and has a Pakistani passport (she's only been here 2 years). I have a settled status (and am the EU national), we also have a child that has the same EU passport as me, was born in the UK and also has a settled status.

How do we convince the people in the airport in Pakistan that my wife is allowed to travel with only a website link when she no longer has a valid residence card to show?.

They already verify the residence card so many times with other people when we travel back, I highly doubt they'll be reluctant to visit a random website from the UK to verify her "pre-settled" status. Essentially she'll have to travel back using just her Pakistani passport and a claim that she is pre-settled?

Please note what they say in the Settled and Pre-settled status page: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-ci ... ve-applied
You will not get a physical document unless both of the following apply:

you’re from outside the EU
you do not already have a biometric residence card
The above implies that once your RC expires, they will issue a new one.

She already has a biometric residence card, but note that it says that is no longer valid after 31st of Dec 2020
If you already have a residence card it will not be valid after 31 December 2020.
It's a bit confusing on how to prove you're a legal residence afterwards, I suppose they'll come up with "something".
