EU pre-settlement schame BRC

Hello everyone I have question please. I got EU family member BRC on 2019 and straight after I applied for pre-settlement status and got pre-settled status letter from the HO. Now a friend told me that you must to upgrade your Old BRC to get new (EU pre-settlement schame BRC) because it will be unvalid after 31-12-2020. is that right? Even if I got pre-settled status letter??
