Preclearance C Visa Wait Times

Post by bingopingo » Sun Jul 07, 2024 10:27 am

Hello, I (an EU citizen/nonIrish) and my partner (Egyptian) are waiting for a decision on a C Preclearance Visa Application to enter Ireland on a de facto basis. We applied early May and in a few days, it will have been a full 60 calendar days since application submission.

Our listed travel date is July 10, and I have already packed and shipped my belongings. The movers will be waiting for me this week with the boxes, but I cannot enter Ireland without my partner. We will not be able to buy last minute tickets to Dublin at this late notice. I have contacted the Irish Embassy where we live multiple times, as well as EU Treaty Right email, and have gotten zero response.

I just don't understand what is taking so long. What could they possibly be reviewing for a C Visa that merely allows him to fly to Ireland? (It doesn't even guarantee him admission to the country!)

I was reading it should not take more than 15 days before a decision has been reached. We've waiting over four times that amount. He's even visited Ireland before for vacation, so it's not like they have not approved him before.

To be honest, that was very abmitious. I know people are waiting for several months (more than 3) even for tourist visas.

There's no way for us to tell you how long it will take. As your partner is a de facto partner, there's not much that ISD is obliged to do, as you first need to prove (and they have to accept that proof) your relationship.
