Proof of accommodation for marriage visa

Post by Douglascrown » Wed Mar 22, 2006 11:43 pm

Hi there. When applying for a marriage visa for my Canadian wife, what kind of documents or proof do I need, as her sponsor, to show that accommodation will be available for us in the UK? Would councel tax or utility bills suffice?

Thanks

As regards accommodation you need to show that the accommodation is "suitable" and certainly not overcrowded.

You own the place? If so you still have the Estate Agents sheet, or property developers sheet from when you bought it? The sheet detailing the size of the rooms? If so, armed with that and information about who will be living there if the visa is granted should show that the place is not overcrowded.

Also no harm your evidence folder including a few pics of the place ... to show that it is not just about to fall down. And you have a mortgage? Something to show that the mortgage payments are up to date and the place is not just about to be repossessed.
Would council tax or utility bills suffice?
The short answer is obviously no.
