Prospective Student/Full Student Visa

Post by ValerieAnne » Mon Jul 25, 2011 4:32 am

Hello everybody. I am looking at a handful of colleges and universities in UK (I'm a US citizen). I was thinking of applying for the prospective student visa, since I could decide courses, tour campuses, etc while there on that visa. When I pick the college/uni that I would like to attend (I have two main ones I'm considering at the moment), will:
I be charged the 255 application fee for the Full student visa?
The prospective student visa get extended/changed to a tier 4 visa for cheaper?

I'm trying to decide if it would be better for the prospective student visa or the full tier 4 visa. Also, if I have somewhere to stay (with a friend) will the 5400 fee for housing to taken off. According the Border Agency site I would need the price of the program and the 5400 for living expenses.

Thank you and I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Yeah I was actually wondering the same thing, seeing as I've a valid visitor visa which doesn't expire until the end of September, and I will be staying with my husband in the UK, it would be easier if the 5,400 was taken off. Hopefully someone can help give us an answer. Thanks for bringing up this subject :)

no you don't get a discount on the application for the student visa and the application fee from inside the UK is more than £255.

You can't get a discount on the maintenance for living with your friend.
