Protector Stamp Pakistani Passport on Open Work Permit

Hello friends,
Is it necessary to get a Protector stamp on a Pakistani Passport if your status in Canada is a Worker on OPEN WORK PERMIT? I don't have a job yet so how would I get a protector on my passport .. Please share your thoughts, if anyone has an experience about it. Thanks a bunch.
