Proof of living - 5 years

Post by samory » Sat Dec 21, 2024 5:45 pm

Hi

I had GTV then ILR and now after 1 year, I will apply for citizenship this month. I am not EEA national.

In the online application when complete, it need to provide proof of living in the Uk for 5 years. The application says:

"If you are a Non-EEA National, you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the relevant 3- or 5-year period.

If you do not have your passport or it was not stamped when you entered the UK, you need to include letters (for example, from your employer or government department) as proof.

Bank statements or household bills are not suitable proof you have been living in the UK"

1- My passport was stamped when I first entered the UK as Tier-4 student in 2017 and I got new passport starting from 2019 which covers the 5 years period.till 2024.. what to include in this case please? both my old passport and new (stamped pages and first pages only)?

2- Do I need to include previous BRPs and P50 or renting contracts?

many thanks

Further to the above, just checked my current passport stamps (covering 5 years), there are some stamps of entry to the UK especially for my earlier tripes in 2022 and 2023 but some stamps for my other travels in 2023 and 2024 are missing meaning the UK boarder did not stamp.... maybe because they are going Digital? because last time the officer said because you have e-visa you don't need your passport stamped.

Only include the passport that covers the full 5 years qualifying period. If you just provide that it should be fine, for peace of mind you can include P60s for the years when your passport wasn't stamped.

Providng BRPs

Post by samory » Thu Dec 26, 2024 8:11 pm

Hi
In the Nat. application for each page in the online application, there is this statement:

"Important

Biometric residence permit (BRP) holders should provide their BRP details, including expired BRPs.

On the 'Reasons for not providing identity documents' page of your application, enter your BRP number and expiry date. This will help us to process your application."

However, I cannot find in any page of my application the 'Reasons for not proving identity documents' page maybe because I have already another passport which I provided for my identify?

any clarification is much appreciated.

Also, for the 'How does the referee know the applicant? questions, is is okay just to write 'Friend' for both of my referees? I have a Banker and Uni lecturer as my referees.

Thanks

You can just include that information in a cover letter. Friend as relationship to your referees is fine.
