Proving lawful residence during the 5 year period

Post by saurya_s » Fri Nov 26, 2010 10:28 pm

Hi all,
What is needed to prove this ?
I have been on working (work permit) full time student (student visa), HSMP and Tier 1 during this period. My ILR has been based on 10 years of residency. Do I need to chase all of these people to get a letter to prove this or do I send certificates, pay slips etc? Also I was unemployed for almost an year after education but of course not on any benefit from govt.
Can somebody shed light on this please?
Many thanks,
S

Vinny,
My apologies- I did not mention this clearly. I am planning to apply for citizenship following ILR that was based on 10 years. My question was to prove '5 year residency requirements' to get citizenship?

I am wondering what is required to prove this apart from visas leading to ILR? The guide says:
1. Your passports and supply

2.Letters from employers, educational establishments or other Government Departments indicating the applicant’s presence in the United Kingdom during the
relevant period

Regarding 2, do I have to chase these people to get me letter? What is recommended for 2?

Many thanks,
S

A prerequisite of the ILR under 10-year long residence is continuous lawful residence. So, I guess you may supply similar evidence as used when obtaining the ILR.
