PSW Dependant Maintenance Funds

Post by weikianng » Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:42 pm

Dear Gurus/Moderators/or those with information,

I am currently holding a PSW visa since January this year. I have never leave UK for the pass 2 years.

Currently my wife would like to join me in the UK and I initially thought that £533 to prove maintenance for her is sufficient until I read a thread in this forum. Could anyone please confirm if we need to prove £1600 instead of £533 if she were to apply before January 2012?

Have you read paragraph 43 of the PBS dependant policy guidance notes? That is very clear on the amount of money a PBS dependant must hold in situations where the sponsoring PBS migrant has been in the UK for more than 12 months.

Thanks for the heads up. I have read it but since the lady from another thread mentioned that she was told otherwise, hence I decided to clarify. Rather to be safe then sorry.

If you don't mind, could you confirm the total amount of funds needed in my case for my wife is only £533 for 3 months, and I will not need to prove any funds on myself as I am not applying any visa?

Dear all,

Have finally got a reply from UKBA, stating that the 12 Months Period starts from when I got the PSW visa.

I have always had the perception that it is from when I arrived UK. Sigh, we will have to re-plan now.

Thank you for the inquiry.

The 12 month period will be from the date the sponsor was granted PSW status.

Subject: Urgent Query: Maintenance funds for Dependant

Dear UKBA's Officer,

Good day.

My husband is currently a PSW Visa Holder in United Kingdom, since January 2011. He has been in the UK since August 2009 (Student Visa), and until now, he has never leave UK.

As we are now planning to apply a PSW Dependant visa for myself, we would have to get ready with the documentation and proving our funds/maintenance.

The question that we have currently is if we need to have a maintenance fund of £533 or £1600 for myself for 3 months period? We have noticed that in the Policy Guidance, it mentioned that if the PSW Visa holder has been in the UK for more than 12 months, it will be £533, but we are not sure if the 12 months is regarded from the date he got his PSW, or the period before he got his PSW can be regarded as well.

Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soon as we are planning to apply for our visa soon!
