Do I qualify for citizenship...american grandparents.

Hello,
I would really appreciate any information on this matter.Both my grandparents were American,born in New York and Philadelphia.When in their teens they both moved to Ireland and married having several children,my father being one of them.They remained in Ireland for the rest of their lives.I would now like to know the situation regarding applying for citizenship..is my father automatically entitled to citizenship having had both his parents born in the US??Am I entitled to citizenship as a result of this??Both my father and I have lived in ireland all our lives and hold Irish passports.

Any advice about this matter would be fantastic!

I doubt that you are an American citizen, and if you're aged 18 or over you're probably out of luck.

Your father might be. When was he born?

Any children your grandparents had would have been US citizens, regardless of where they were born. So would any children theie children may have had.

The problem will be in proving that your grandparents were born in the USA. Do that, and provide all of the other necessary paperwork, and you will be recognized as a U.S. Citizen.

That is not true. It is a misconception. There are situation when USA citizenship is not automatic when one is born abroad and then it must be acquired.
