Hi Team,
My wife received naturalization certificate in the ceremony. We applied for her passport without any mistakes in surname or firstname.
However we see delays from the nationality team.
Got an latest email saying there is a surname change from UKVI , but we didnt have any surname change neither in ILR applicaiton, nor indian passport nor Applicaiton for naturaisation . We have all proofs like ILR copy, Ref number of applicaitonfor naturalisation reference and also earlier dependency extention home office reference number. From none of indian passports have surname change , also for the past 10 years history in UK applicaiton - no surname change. i think they got confuse or some mistake with my surname(yyyy)
shall my wife send one letter to nationality team saying we never had any surname change inclduing indian passports for last 10 years(attaching ILR BRP photocopy, ref.no of naturalisaiton as a brisitsh citizen applicaiton, dependent extention, first spouse visa extention ref numbers , BRP photo copies) and say we never had any surname change including naturalisation nor passport application.
Here is their complete email
Thank you for your passport application. We have reviewed your application and it has come to our attention that according to United Kingdom Visas and Immigration (UKVI), you have had a name change to xxxxx yyyy
As zzzz is the only surname on the nationality certificate, we would need you to ask UKVI to add the other surname on the certificate.
If UKVI had been satisfied with the evidence provided, they would have either re-issued the certificate or added an endorsement which clearly stated that the original was incorrect and that the correct detail has been added.
Please note that we cannot issue a passport with the details shown on the application, as they must match the information on the nationality certificate.
What you need to do
If you have further evidence to support the requested amendment that you have not already supplied, please contact Citizenship & Nationality Enquiries. They will be able to provide information as to what evidence they can accept. You may contact them by post at, UKVI at Department 201, The Capital, New Hall Place, Liverpool L3 9PP (telephone 0300 123 2253, or you can visit their website at
www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi ). You would need to send them the certificate and proof of the correct personal details. If they amend or re-issue the certificate, we will be able to issue a passport when we receive the certificate.
Alternatively, we can issue a passport so that it agrees with the original details currently shown on the document. Please let me know if you prefer this. Send a signed and dated letter that lets us know what you want to do.
