Need Help Query - Do you have any dependants not applying with you at this time?

Post by RAJ007 » Sun Jun 22, 2025 9:17 pm

Hi,

Sorry if this question has been answered before and could not find any topic related to my scenario.

I am currently on ILR and my wife came as my dependent and now she has completed 1 Year after being granted ILR and now she is eligible for Naturalization.

My daughter is already British Citizen and I am not applying for Naturalization at this moment.

I am filling out the Naturalization as a British Citizen ( Form AN) online form just for my wife.

On the Naturalization form , there is a question i.e. " Do you have any dependants not applying with you at this time?". So how to answer this question ?

As my daughter is already British Citizen, and I am not dependant on my wife, as my wife came to UK as my dependent , What should be the answer to this question as I am bit confused ?

Please help me on this query.

Many Thanks

Raj

Say No. as there are no dependents that aren't British citizens already.

Thanks contorted_svy for your reply.

.1. So is my understanding right for this question , that even though I am still on ILR and currently not British Citizen and not applying for Naturalization, I am not consider as my wife dependent for her Naturalization application in the context of UK immigration ?

.2. Also I am suppose to give details of 2 referees i.e. One must be a British citizen, over 25 years old, And other must be a professional person for e.g. Manager or Director of Limited Company. So can we give details of both of this referees in any order on application form ? or it has to be in specific order i.e. professional person first?

Please help me with this queries.

Many Thanks.

Hi Everyone,

I have few more queries related to my wife Naturalization application form

(a) As per the Naturalization application, I believe only few document are required for my wife application;
.1. English Language pass certificate which was previously submitted for ILR.
.2. Life in the UK test unique reference number, which was previously submitted for ILR.
.3. All Passport pages, showing all immigration stamps for Proof of living in the UK for 5 years.
.4. As BRP is already expired , does the scanned image of the ILR BRP needs to be submitted ?
.5. Covering letter of the absences from the UK in last 5 years.
.6. Currently my wife is working , so does she needs to submit last 3 months of payslips ?
.7. Does my wife need to submit current employment reference letter ?

.8. Does she need to submit any P60 ?
.9. Last 5 years council tax statement showing residence proof for last 5 years.
10. Do we need to submit any other documents of us living together as we submitted for my wife ILR application previously ?

(b) Do we also need to submit both referee declaration form as per below link or email will be sent to both the referee to confirm the identity. And if yes , do we need to get this referee declaration documents signed before we submit the application or can this be done after the application is submitted ?;
https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... on_MN1.pdf

(c) Also on the back of the applicant’s photograph, do we need to write applicant full name and date of birth and glue this photograph to the Referee Declaration Form ?

(d) Both the Referee's are manager of limited company. One of my friend also manages his other property through limited company and is the director of that limited company. So will that be a good option to give one referee as a Manager and other referee as a director of limited company ? Or both as manager of limited company will be Okay ?

(e) How to answer this 2 question related to Referee;
.1. What is their profession ? Can this be answered as just Manager ? Or Manager at Xyz company ?
.2. How does the referee knows the applicant ? As both the referee knows my wife, Can this be answered as just Friend ? Or my Spouse Friend ?

(f) Do I need to submit any documents of myself, which I did as part of my wife ILR application where she was my dependent, but for her Naturalization application I don't think my documents such as my passport, my pay slips , my employment reference letter etc. is required ?

Please help me with this queries.

Thanks and Regards,
Raj

Number 5 to 10 is NOT required.

b) You need to submit the signed referee form. Nothing is sent to them by UKVI. They should sign ideally before the date of application.

c) Ignore about writing on back of photo. It is from the paper applicairon days.

d) it doesn't matter. Only ONE referee needs to be a professional on the list. The other one must be British and over 25 years of age. Both must be of good character.

e) Just manager is fine.

f) Nothing.

Have you read the guidance notes at all??

Thanks CR001 for answering my queries.

Have gone through the guidance but some of the question on application form were bit confusing so need some clarification

Just need clarification related to below points;

(a) As BRP is already expired and is now replaced by e-visa, does the scanned image of the ILR BRP needs to be still submitted ? Or we now have to submit the e-visa document instead of the BRP ?

(e) How to answer this question related to Referee;
.2. How does the referee knows the applicant ? As both the referee knows me an my wife personally for more than 3 years, Can this be answered as just Friend ? Or my Spouse Friend ?

Please help me on this queries please.

Thanks and Regards,
Raj

Hello Everyone,

I need some help related to one of the question on the Naturalisation online form.

For the UK Naturalisation form, when answering the section on previous immigration application detailss;

.1. Should the title (e.g., 'Mrs') be included for the question 'Name in which you made the application,' given that:

(a) All previous application forms had a separate mandatory field for the Title i.e. Mrs, and
my Wife official identity documents (Passport and BRP) only contain her Given Name(s) and Surname without any title?

So as per my understanding, this question should be answered without mentioning the title, and Only mention full name as per the BRP and Passport ? Correct me if I am wrong.

Please help me with this query.

Many Thanks

Thanks CR001 for answering my query.

So Will just mention the full name as per BRP i.e. Given Name + Surname, excluding the title i.e. Mrs.

Hi Everyone,

I have a couple of queries related to referee professions and the Referee Declaration Form for naturalisation application:

1. Referee signature date on the Declaration Form:
What is the guidance on the signed date on Referee Declaration Form, when referees sign the form?

(a) Should the signature date on Referee Declaration Form be before I submit application? OR
(b) Should it be after the application is submitted? OR
(c) Does the timing(Date) actually matter?

2. First referee - Compliance Manager:
My first referee is a Compliance Manager at Limited/Vat Registered Company. I believe this falls under the following acceptable professions for professional standing:

(a) Manager or personnel officer (of a limited company)
(b) Director, manager or personnel officer of a VAT registered company

Can someone please confirm this is acceptable as a professional referee?

(Reference: Acceptable professions list Link :
https://assets.publishing.service.gov.u ... als_v4.pdf
)

3. Second referee - Senior Software Engineer:
My second referee is a Senior Software Engineer, British citizen, and over 25 years old. I understand that being a British citizen and over 25 meets the requirement for the second referee. Can someone please confirm this is acceptable?

4. Second referee being software engineer, I believe also falls under acceptable profession for professional standing i.e. engineer (with professional qualifications).
Could someone please confirm this is also acceptable as a professional referee?

Please help me with this queries.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks contorted_svy for answering my queries.

So. as per my understanding both the referee are acceptable as the first referee is Manager at Limied/VAT registered company and Second referee is British Citizen and over 25 years age. Please correct me if I am wrong here ?

Secondly both this referee has already signed the referee declaration form 3 weeks back as my online application was ready, and will be submitting the application in next 2 days, which will be well within 30 days timeframe of the application date. So this should be okay and can use the same signed form and I don't need to take their signature again. Please correct me if I am wrong here. ?

Please let me know on this.

Many Thanks

Hi Everyone

I have query related to document checklist.

One of the document checklist is related to Proof of living in the UK for 5 years.

.1. So for this checklist it says "you need to include your passport to prove you have lived in the UK for the relevant 5-year period."

We have all entry and exit stamps in the passport, with one exception: the most recent entry stamp from May at Heathrow is not present. According to immigration officials at Heathrow, entry stamps are no longer required under the current system. However, we do have the corresponding exit stamp from India for the start of this journey on that day. Could you please advise on how to demonstrate this entry into the UK and what supporting documents we should provide with the application?

.2. Also on the document checklist it say " If you do not have your passport or it was not stamped when you entered the UK, you need to include letters (for example, from your employer or government department) as proof. Not sure what documents we have to gather as its bit confusing.

.3. So do we need any letter from my wife's employer stating that she was back to work on this particular day in May ?

Please help me with this query.

Many Thanks
Raj

Not a problem, just submit copy of all pages of your passport, that's all you'll need.

Yes, will submit all the page of the passport to prove continues 5 years period.

My concern is, as we are Non EEA national, and for every entry we used get our passport stamped at Heathrow.

But for our last holiday this May, we had our biometric taken to check our Identity on arrival at Heathrow immigration, but Passport did not go stamped as they don't stamp the passport anymore on arrival.

So just last entry in missing in the passport. So will this cause any issue. ?

We are also going to submit last 5 years council tax bill for this, and also my wife employment reference letter and also last 6 months Pay slip and last year P60.

So will that be enough, or will also need to submit last trip flight E-Ticket and Boarding Pass as well ?

Please do let me know on this.

Many Thanks
Raj

Not an issue they can validate against their dabatase - your passport was scanned on arrival.

We are also going to submit last 5 years council tax bill for this, and also my wife employment reference letter and also last 6 months Pay slip and last year P60.
These are not required, your passports are sufficient as advised.

No need for this, not required. Please don't overthink this.
Please do let me know on this.

I noticed they don't stamp people on ILR/Settled Status at all. We have entered the UK via many different checkpoints this year (Gatwick/Edinburgh airports, Newhaven/Dover/Harwich ports, Eurostar Paris train station) - only passport scan and no stamping

Hi Ixeon659

I guess you being EEA national, passports were generally NOT stamped when arriving in the UK.

But for all Non EEA Nationals, passports were always stamped while arriving in UK. But since the BRP are scrapped they dont stamp the passport when arriving in UK because of new digital system in place but they do take the biometric to check the identity at immigration.

Thanks

Hi alterhase58

yes you are right, as our biometrics were taken to check our identity on arrival at Heathrow, our arrival records should be there into their database.

Thanks for answering my queries.

Raj
