Anyone who is granted ILR or submits ILR application before the new "earned citizenship" laws come into effect will be eligible to apply for naturalisation as per current rules (and not earned citizenship rules) within a transitional period of 2 years (UKBA has taken off the info. from website so can't provide you with a link to confirm the 2 yr. timeline).MyHSMPApplication wrote:Hi SushDMehta
I believe this might have been discussed a zillion times in this forum (probably I might have participated in a few) was just wondering as to what is the impact of the above to someone who is scheduled to get his PR (ILR) in the month of March 2011 ?
Will it have any impact for his citizenship application?
I remember reading somewhere that there is a grace period of 12 months for existing PR holders to get their citizenship in the old route. Not sure if that is still the case
Cheers
