Question About TIER 2 (INTRA COMPANY TRANSFER)

My husband has entered UK-by TIER 2 -intra company transfer by FEB -2012. Actually this is his 3rd visit to UK (same place-London but this time with a different employer/company but on all the 3 visits, he worked with same bank here in UK as a contracter. ).
(1st visit for 4 months (JAN-2008 to APR-2008), and 2nd visit lasted for 11 months (OCT-2009 to AUG-2010)with the same company both the times and returned to our country (India)).

Though he got 3 years of visa in the previous 2 visits, he had to return on emergency/ personal issues. (due to his (late) father's serious illness and to take care of him.)
This time also he has got 3 years of visa .

Though we don't want to stay in this country permanently after 5 or 6years, now we think of getting PR / Citizenship for the sake of our kids' future.(so that they can come here for higher studies without much difficulties.)

So, my question is on any ground, can we change this visa status to TIER 2 - General category and get a PR..?
( or )
by the new rules n regulations of immigration ,we CANNOT stay here after maximum of 5 years and 1 year cool off period... and can never get a PR at any cost...?

Please give ur valuable suggestions ... (I got confused more after reading many web pages regarding this...please clear...)

If your husband had entry clearance in Feb 2012 then unfortunately he cannot switch to T2G in-country. Since he changed sponsor I expect he did have entry clearance even if his previous T2 ICT leave was still valid when he applied

The only way to enter T2G, and therefore be eligible for ILR after 5 years, would be to apply from India after the 12 month cooling-off period has passed.

Previous visas will not count because there are breaks so no point considering that.

If you are desperate to obtain PR due to situations, you as a dependent can switch to T2G (if you manage to find a sponsor) and later you husband can become your dependent. Please see this link http://www.immigrationboards.com/uk-tie ... 52454.html

Again there are minimum salary requirement and complex procedures for T2G which you will have to consider. The PR clock will start once you switch to T2G.
