Hello Brigid,
I've tried to message you on here, but it seems there's an issue in regards of the amount of time I've been a member??
I've read lots of your very helpful and considerate responses to numerous posts. Would you be kind enough to help me with a few questions in terms of moving to Ireland with my family please?
I am an Irish citizen by descent and my two children currently have British citizenship, but we'll be making a claim for Irish citizenship for them both. My wife is Colombian and we are currently living in Muscat, Oman. We have sufficient funds and will buy a house without a mortgage and we want to start a small business after we have settled.
In your opinion, would it be wiser to apply for citizenship for our children after we are in Ireland or should we do it before the move? I've read that as Irish citizens, the children are entitled to 'care from their mother' regardless of her nationality, that she would not be deported no matter what, is this correct?
Also, should we apply for a Spouse joining visa for my wife or just a tourist visa and make a request to change that when we're in Ireland?
Thank you in advance,
Ged.
