quick and stupid question - timing of citizenship test

Post by sfgirl » Mon Jan 30, 2006 9:18 pm

Folks, apologies for an ignorant question but I was just talking to a friend of mine who's finally decided to get the finger out and apply for naturalisation.

She's coming up to London in two week's time and would like to visit one of the centers that photocopy your passport etc... But, she hasn't done the citizenship test.

Does it have to be done first and if so, can it be done in London the same day as the appointment with the "fast track" center? Sorry for being so out of touch but I've not been paying much attention since I got my BC last year.

Thanks!

Yes she can go to the NCS( the photocopy place) immediately after taking the citizenship test. She will need to take the pass certificate which needs to be submitted along with the application.

Bear in mind though that this may be a logistical challenge. You need to make appointments for both the test and NCS and will have to synchronise timings such that you have enough time to finish the test and dash to the NCS centre.

Of course this assumes that your friend passes the test. if she hasn't been preparing from the citizenship book, she will find it difficult to pass. Most natives would struggle to pass it as well :)

I think the only answer can be that she should check with the Test Centre and NCS office she's planning to go to. She'll certainly need to take the test before submitting her application.
She may be able to take the test nearer to home, before coming to London to go to the NCS office - http://www.multimap.com/clients/places. ... nt=ufitest will help find her nearest centre.
