Quick query on extension of Visa

Post by decentguy_uk » Thu Jan 22, 2009 2:22 pm

Hello all

I have a quick and simple query on extension of visa

I am currently on 5 year work permit expiring in November 2009
My wife joined me in UK in October 2008 and her "work permit dependant visa" is valid until November 2009

Question:
I am going to apply for my ILR in October 2009
Do I need to apply for my wife's visa extension after I get my ILR ? Or do I apply for her extension before I apply for my ILR ?

As ILR application takes more than 8 weeks to process (say I get it in Dec 2009), I fear that by the time I get my ILR, my wife's visa would have expired and she will find difficult to extend it ?

Any thoughts on how we can handle this situation

Looks like I'm answering all your questions today 8)
Anyhow good news for you is that, as your wife is a dependant of your visa, she can apply for ILR at the same time as you. :D

Even though she has been in UK for only 1 year as my dependant at the time of my ILR application ? (she will complete 1 year in UK in October 2009) ?

I thought she has to live in UK for 2 years before applying for ILR

If she can apply with me than that will be a perfect scenario...Please confirm
