Quick question on Council tax single person discount !

Dear all,

I am on a Tier 1 visa, and was wondering if I would be eligible for a Single person discount of 25% on the Council tax. Is it public funds?!

If you live alone in a house then you can ask the local council for a 25% discount on the council tax. Just call up the council, quote them the reference number and tell them that you live alone. They will then send you a new bill with the discount applied.

And on the phone ask them if it would be possible to apply the discount retrospectively, so for the rest of the year you bill goes down even lower.
