Redundancy and change of employment

Hi all,

I made a successfull application with my wife and under 18 child this January under restricted COS & for a shortage occupation. However, after six months I was informed that my position was being made redundant and my last date will be this 31st. I have the following couple of questions.

1. How long will I have my leave curtailed? I believed it would be 60 days, but it says that there are few exceptions if you have an under 18 dependent with you. Any idea how this will affect?

2. I am on a job hunt obviously. In case my leave is curtailed to 60 days, will it mean that I can make a fresh application within these 60 days? This I am thinking will be linked to the demonstration of available funds. I understand that if you are only switching to a different employer and have already been given a Tier 2 visa you don't need to show funds.

Your and your dependants' visas will be curtailed to 60 days from the date of the curtailment decision, not from the date of the termination of your employment, i.e. in practice you'll have more than 60 days to find a new job, especially if you start the job search now. If the new job is also a shortage occupation, or has a PhD level SOC code, RLMT will not be needed, but otherwise yes. Once you have a new unrestricted CoS you'll have to make a change of employment application. Maintenance funds will not be required.

For the curtailment letter to reach you make sure that the HO have your current address. When your current employer ends your sponsorship they also have to enter your current postal and email address in the SMS

Thanks as always for your advice! With the RLMT I want to check if I apply to an already advertised position and I do get selected (provided they are in the Spnosors list), I think it should satisfy the requirement right?

i thought i should just point out that make sure you get the job and cos issued within the curtailed leave. If and when your leave is curtailed, and you are not able to apply within that time, and u leave the country, u will have to serve the 1 year cooling off time.
