Referees for Children in Naturalisation Process

Post by ceratti1975 » Sun Jan 26, 2025 11:18 am

Hi there,
We are going through the naturalisation process, and I need to provide referees for my two kids. I asked my children's previous teachers, but they were not happy to provide their personal details.

My referees are both colleagues, but my wife's referees are her English teacher and a British friend, both of whom have been visiting our house for more than 5 years. I was wondering if I can use them both as referees for my two kids.

Many thanks.

This is a common issue - referees for children not wanting to share personal details (!) - and UKVI are aware of this.
In this case you can use referees which are signing for adult applicants. It is best to add a covering note to explain the referee issue, and attach any emails you may have from the school. As explained UKVI are aware and it will not hold up the children registration.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

You can use your adult referees as long as they are not related to each other or live at the same address, one if them is a professional (the teacher needs to be chartered, not just someone who privately teaches English) and one is British over the age of 25.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.
